My home phone (and DSL, naturally) is down. Verizon says the service outage might take until MONDAY to be repaired! OMG OMG OMFG whattumigonnado?
Would someone who can go in world at least IM the following people for me, and tell them that I am having access problems that may continue all weekend?
kelley Griffith: Head of GQ Start. Tell kelley that unless she hears from me, I will not be teaching my Friday evening or Sunday afternoon classes. If kelley is offline, please notify Zion Tristan or MASUkills Masukala.
Prowess Rayna: Tell her that I'm sorry we weren't able to coordinate our plans in time for her to play at our club this weekend. We will try again later.
After the next hour, when I leave work, I won't even be able to access the Forums.
Excuse me, I am now going to go into Total Withdrawal mode.

Lindal, have you tried AjaxLife.net? I've used that web-based version of SL to send IMs... Gnomiverse works for IM's too. http://www.gnomiverse.com/ It's your typical chat client like yahoo, googlechat or whatever. It works crossplatforms including SL. Just another tool someone might find useful. But then you still have to be able to connect to the web to use anything like that which is not much help for Lindal. If worse comes to worse, see if any of your neighbors have an open wireless connection _____________________

When I had a temporary break in broadband due to moving house I simply bought a 3g widget thing - I was getting 7.2mbps but that was still plenty to run SL almost smoothly(ish)
Before that I was "borrowing" some bandwidth from a neighbours unsecured wireless for a few days but lucky to get 1mbps. But I felt so guilty about it I got the widget and it was fine - great thing about the widget is that I can use it almost anywhere in the country At home I now have regular broadband but the widget is very useful anyway (and not just for SL) |

Excuse me, I am now going to go into Total Withdrawal mode. *starts sweating and gnawing fingernails* It took me a long time of build/rip down, unsuitable liaisons which would have been best avoided for all concerned and a lot of time to recover my SL poise after a three month hiatus caused by no phone line, and needing planning permission to a Grade II listed building to install one. So, assuming Verizon do better than when Tevin's cable box was struck by lightning recently, welcome back! (Blew half his garden, the cable box, the modem and his PC up and missed by inches hitting the gas pipe which was open and flowing to the grill ... and I've seen the scorch marks to prove that his house by all rights should have been a smoking crater - it took his ISP a little while to get on the case. Once the fire was put out, anyway. LOL.) _____________________

Sure enough, my phone and DSL at home are down. The washing machine is broken too, so I can't even do the most pressing bit of housework. So I said the hell with it and went in to work.
