Hi-

I set up SAM Broadcaster 4 a week ago. Rented a stream and I can get everything to work except the delay time from whatever I do in SAM (music, voiceFX) until it gets to the land is a bit long (about 25 seconds). Is this normal?

I have a Windows Vista computer with 3gb RAM and 1.8ghz processor, plenty of disc space, cable modem, Creative X-Fi Music card. Last week I was using an XP and a different stream provider, and the same problem was occuring, so I don't think it is because of Vista or the provider.

The cable modem runs at 14.293 Mbps d/l (max is 15) and 1.9361 Mbps u/l (max is 2). so I am getting the most out of that I can.

Any ideas what I can do? Of course, maybe 25 seconds IS ok, so I should stop complaining :-))

I have been dj'ing with SAM for nearly a year and 20-25 secs is normal for the delay. Sometimes at busy times etc. the delay can be even longer.

Yes there is always a delay between what is sent out and what is received in world, this can be anywhere between a few seconds to as much at 30 seconds or more. This is due to a number of factors, your stream buffer, internet "Lag", and the fact that the internet as fast as it is, is not instant from point.

Thank you. I guess I was just impatient. I will have to refrain from making jokes on voice, or making sure I say goodbye to someone 25 seconds before they say they are leaving..lol.....well I am glad it is not my setup that is causing this. I will try to lower my SL settings to see if that makes any difference.

Normal. It varies for me, sometimes it is just a few seconds but other times it can be much longer.

25 seconds is about right.
