I have a shopping mall located on the edge of another sim. The land owner on the next sim and I want to create a cross-over point to our properties so we can share customers and create a better environment for visitors. Both of our businesses compliment each other. We tried to make a cross-over point. (connecting to prims as close as we could), but we still have the problem of losing customers who try to cross over. Instead they end up at the bottom of our joint foundations. Not good for business. Any way of fixing this?

Also, put 10 meter high transparent prims at the crossover point. If they start to sink at the border crossing, they'll "step back up" to level fairly quickly.
If you want to see an example, check out the castle at the Indigo / Olive border - I've got it working pretty well there, although the crossing is still a bit jarring. ![]() Regards, -Flip _____________________

Instead of having prims meeting at the sim border, try haveing one prim overlap both sims, this may help.

Instead of having prims meeting at the sim border, try haveing one prim overlap both sims, this may help. I ran into that problem too and overlapping prims across the sim boundaries kept visitors from falling through. |

Thanks Guys

Thank you all for your answers, but I've done all that even to the point of getting our land trying to match up...still the problem remains.

at any rate glad to hear of friendly cooperative neighbors, sometimes you hear so much bad news you wonder if they still exist... |

Careful with overlaps; prims that overlap sims have a tendency to behave as phantom prims.

Here's what you do.
1) Use overlapping prims from each side for the flooring. Say, some rectangular shapes. 2) Ensure that the CENTER of the overlapping prim is honestly, truly on the side you intend it to be. If you have a lot of prims only on one side or the other it is not going to work. 3) Double up the overlapping prims - set two extra ones just below floor level by 0.020 or so. This works. Check out any of the sim-crossing bridges in Caledon, though I was a bit 'casual' there and just put down a couple on each side until it was effective. ![]() _____________________

this is only a thory, but I don't see how it could not work
script a couple of invisible flat platform to fly under any one who goes bellow enough of the floor level and have it move up slowlly bringin the person back to level... does anyone think this could not work? |

Flipper and Desmond have really good crossing points in their respective builds. One more point, be sure to set the crossing prims at right angles to the border. AVs cross more reliably that way than at an obtuse angle.

I use the same technique as Flip and Desmond, but with 3 10m long prims connected together, so you have atleast 20m into the other sim.

The reason that overlapping prims work:
They support the avatar long enough for the sim that you are leaving to hand off the avatar information to the sim you are entering. Once that happens, you're supported by the prim anchored in the gaining sim. BOTH prims have to be firmly anchored in their host sim, and they must overlap enough for the sim handoff to occur while the avatar is still on the overlapped area. Given the current abysmal lag, you might have to use megaprims, or a linkset, to satisfy both conditions. _____________________

Details on how to seamlessly create a prim bridge between two sims can be found here:
/8/86/247749/1.html All it takes is 2 extra prims, with one half of the bridge or stairs on one side of the border, and the other half on the other side. Read the above thread for my detailed explanation. _____________________
