Hi everyone

I just tried to buy currency in-world and each time the box disappeared. There was no message or anything like that.

I rang billing and was asked to try to buy from the website. I got a message saying the transaction had gone through, but it did not show up in my account.

The agent checked and told me he could see that three transactions were pending. After putting me on hold he confirmed there are problems with the Lindex. He was able to transfer the money from the website purchase to my account, but agents are limited in the number of refunds they can give. He thinks it quite likely my credit card will be charged for the two in-world abortive transactions and advised me to raise a support ticket.

Being the caring soul that I am, I came here first. :p

Do NOT buy $L at the moment. You have been warned!

I've been trying to sell Lindens and it won't go through either.... get a message telling me that it can't update a seller's balance or something.

EDIT: Hey Francesca! Send me your credit card details and I'll sell you my Lindens in world! ;)

Check your credit card statements carefully! Getting charged $2000 each time ... geez do they mean in actual USD??? Wow this could really mess up your holidays if it inadvertently maxed out your spending limits. http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2009/12/15/post837/

Some residents who are making Lindex purchases appear to be getting charged $2000 each time so again please refrain from making Lindex purchases until further notice.

Thank you for your understanding.

Please check back shortly for further information.

I just tried to buy 572L and no payment yet I shall cry if they charge me 2000$ that will go past what I have in the bank and thus cause overdrawn charges and things. :(

I would be asking LL if they will be paying the charges if you get charged by the bank as it seems its their system that is baulked and they have not taken it offline just posted the grid status report, saying dont buy atm, which not everyone reads.

All clear just in. I'd still keep your eye on your banking statements though.

I've been selling L$ just a couple of days before tier date.
This month, I put up the sale a week in advance - prescient or something :)
Wouldn't it be awful selling on the day and having this happen!

There is an extra large amount in orders posted on the Lindex, on the sell side. This is likely people cashing out for the holidays. Although something like that *shouldn't* cause it to fail, the timing raises the possibility in my mind. Volume was high yesterday, but not higher than it gets every month-end.

Actually, if they did overdraw your account and foul you up, you'd report that to your bank or credit card company. Often, the bank/company will pursue them.

My bank chased a credit card company that did that to me once, and didn't charge me the fees.

FYI Buying Linden Dollars in such small increments is not very efficient because of the associated transaction fees with each Lindex transaction. About 12% of your money will end up going to transaction fees if you buy in such small increments. You're better off purchasing in larger increments to keep your transaction fee percentage for your L$ purchases much lower.

Of course, if you don't need a large amount of $L, then this advice is kinda' silly, eh?
