new member needs free shoes

I haven't been a member for long in sl, but i'm trying to find a pair or two of shoes for my avatar. Can someone please help me find a free pair of shoes. I also don't know how to open packages or boxes.......so......please, anyone.........help? Thanks.

Also you can check out the Gnube store....they have some great freebies for folks just starting out. And.....you can always go into search, and type in 'freebies'. You'll find there's tons of places that offer free items to beginners. Sarah Nerd's Freebie warehouse....The Free Dove...... and tons more~!!!

To open a box:

Drag it from your inventory to the ground.
Right click and select "open".
If you want to wear everything in the box (be careful of this) select "copy and wear", otherwise select "copy to inventory".
In your inventory look in the Recent tab, find whatever was in the box, and wear it. (assuming it's clothes and not a tree or house!)

Free Dove is the best to go for your starting freebies.

As for box opening, you've got find a place that lets you, which isn't Free Dove...

NCI has some laggy changing rooms. I myself found a remote little line between two obscure no traffic Sims, and landmarked it. I port there everytime I need to open something. But that was just a lucky find, and if I say where it is, it'll get too laggy for me to use it... :|

For free shoes, try Tousled if the AV is female - yes, it's a hair store, but they have a pair of free sculpted colorchange heels that are really essential. Freebies were in the back of the store, last time I checked.

As for where to open a box ... Yes, you need a place that has build enabled. You COULD do this at any sandbox (free building area) - just type "sandbox" into search. Unfortunately, sandboxes tend to attract unpleasant people -- but the ones at NCI and the Ivory Tower of Prims (both great places to go, and NCI's freebie vendors are a must for new folks) are policed and safe. There's a nice pair of black & beige sneakers at the makehimover hunt at the Hoorenbeck store for a casual look (use the search function on the viewer to find the store and teleport there). They are pretty much unisex and with a resize menu so a nice deal as their shoes can be fairly pricy but look awesome. Look for the orange male symbol ♂ and buy it for 0L. You can rez and open the box in the store as per the previous instructions someone gave you. I'd suggest you go today as it will be really popular when the hunt officially starts June 1st (but it's out already) .. and welcome to Second Life

Maitreya has a nice set of court shoes, in many colours. I believe they are a subscription group gift, but it's worth joining as you may like to be a customer later on.

We did some shopping - One place I took her was to Chuculet, anything in there is $1 Linden.

They have four pair of really cute summer high heeled sandals, and a lot of packs of flat shoes. They also have three (I think) pair of men's beach sandals.

They have 3 cute female shapes, 2 pair nice sunglasses and lots of jewelry. All for $1 Linden each. Maybe that info will help someone else.

If it is for female (and besides the free ones from Maitreya) just search for Tesla... TP to the shop and you'll find some free pairs (among with 2 prize chairs)... both Maitreya and Tesla are excellent brands so it's a good start
