Question About Health Status

It's been a while since I last posted (Merry Christmas, btw)...

I was on a sim last week sometime, and I set foot on a snow-covered area (I go barefoot in SL, btw - yes, even on snow). Once I stepped on that area, a heart icon was displayed with "100%" showing right next to it. This was the only time I experienced the Health Status icon. What does the health status (with the heart icon) mean? Does it mean my avatar will die until I log in again?

If so, I know full well to avoid that sim at all costs.

It is a sim were damage is enabled. That only means weapons or such can hurt you there. You won't die from cold. ;) And even if you happen to die in one of those sims, all that happens is you get teleported to your home location, so nothing to worry about

Your feet are freezing and will eventually fall off unless you put some shoes on or get off the snow.

:p

Cold doesn't hurt, unless you get so cold that you get hypothermia or frostbite. Although I am a southern girl I lived way up north for a few years. My husband would freek out when he saw my barefoot footprints out front in the snow. I would go out in the morning with a bathrobe and no shoes to get the paper. It was easier to dry off my feet than my shoes. I never had any problems. :)

Put something on your feet, girl - you'll catch your death of cold!

Yep - and that health status meter will decrease as the feet get closer to the frostbite point.

It's not like it's RL, you know. :)

Most other places I went where snow prevailed, there was no evidence of a health meter.

The snow had nothiing to do with damage being enabled there. It's just that whoever owns that parcel wants weapons to work and cause damage on their land.

Personally, the instant I see one of those hearts appear, I TP away, delete all landmarks leading to that area, and vow never to return to that parcel/business. I refuse to be someone's live fire target.

Ah they must have bought the new genetically-engineered snow that isn't cold....

suprised me the other day when I TPed to a large and popular ladies clothing store and found it to be Damage enabled.... but after reading some fashion blogs and threads on fashion in SL I soon realized that this is maybe the way ALL clothing stores should be...

Especially if the designer does limited edition outfits with only a certain number available and it is a popular designer. In these cases, a knock-down could be entertaining.

Maybe it was preparing for the January Sales.
