Phantom local chat?

I swear, it's not the voices in my head...

I am at home, sitting in my house on a 4,096 parcel - and there are non-existent people talking to me in the local chat. LOL They're not showing on the maps, they're not anywhere near my house, but I am seeing their conversations and they can "hear" me.

I'm starting to think my plants have begun talking. *grins* Only they have profiles (and oddly enough, most of them seem to be like 24-48 hours old).

Anyone have a clue? Did I screw something up when I made changes in my "about land"? Am I just doomed to hear voices forever...? And what if they tell me to eat an entire gallon of yummy chocolate chip mint ice cream? Since they're phantom people telling me to do it, are the calories in the ice cream also phantom? *grins*

Thanks for any help you can offer! *shares the ice cream*

It's certainly possible for a scripted attachment or rezzed-on-parcel object to do this, but it should appear color-coded as object chat, even if labeled as coming from an avatar.

If they can hear you,Ask them where they are.Have you got a radar system? or better yet a mysti tool, this can help track down stuff.

You don't happen to be living in the SW corner of the sim, do you? I know that, when I rented a parcel in the SW of a roleplay sim some time back, there were occasions when I could clearly hear what was being spoken in open chat *well* out of chat range, even right across the sim. And there have been other occasions when being in the SW of a sim has caused weird things like that to happen. I've always regarded the SW of a sim as its 'spooked' corner :D

Wow. That's pretty weird, and interesting, too.
