Opening a Mall

Hello everyone, could anyone give some ideas where the best place is to advertise a new mall in SL?..so that it shows up in the search?

I was just thinking to myself the other day : "What SL needs is another mall. Yessss, indeedy."

Are you looking for tenants to rent your space, or are you advertising to potential customers to come see your existing tenants?

hi Brann, yes i'm trying to attract people with goods to sell to come and rent my shops

It's a chicken and egg situation, without customers it's hard to attract merchants, without merchants it's hard to attract customers.

We had good luck attracting people by offering a free month's rent on shop space. We put ads in the Property for Rent forum here and in the XStreet Services forum. The only problem was in getting them to STAY after the first free month.

You have to do work to attract customers as well as merchants. Events, sales, hunts, giveaways.

You could also try an offer such as, "rent from us for two months, and your third month is free."

The most successful malls Ive seen are those that cater to specific tastes.

If you happen to like Rubber, or maybe just jeans. Make your mall specific so one knows if they go there for a certain item they'll have a ton of places to choose from. Myself as a renter would look for just such a place as targeted malls do way better than run of the mill catch all.


but, to each her own. Its your choice really. But I think you get my drift.

(actually the 'Just Jeans' isnt a bad idea, right now its hunt and peck around sl to find the best.) -- see how that works!

(thinking outloud) -- Of course your sellers maybe won't have lots of jeans but as long as they are made focus of the storefront the end result is achieved I think.

Don't plan any profit untill you can 90% fill it, which might happen occassionally after a couple of years of work. Expect weeks of emptyness and plenty of tennants who will just stop paying rent and dissappear.
