forgive the dumb question, but as a basic account holder I can only acquire 10 dollars a day worth of lindens. As I have a healthy paypal account in credit, can I also deposit funds (say $10) on the same day into my SLex account to do more shopping?

Maybe. SL bought them and I do not know if they have combined all info yet, so I do not know if the same limit will follow you there.

BTW - the $10 only holds for a few days. On day 3, the limit goes to $100.

ETA: The limits start on the day you first buy L$ or add $ to your account. As far as I know, the Basic vs Premium has no play in it.

The SL and Xstreet balances are still separate accounts so i think you can buy lindens on Xstreet wirhout any problems.

ok... buying L$ on SL website via paypal whilst online is instantaneous, while doing the same on SLex takes 2-4 days......anyone know why?.............does anyone have experience of buying stuff on that marketplace site, good or bad? I am a bit reticent now, because I certainly don't want to wait another 2-4 days to receive stuff to my inventory, that I chose to buy today...............finn.

I deposit cash from paypal to Xstreet instantly, make the money purchase and transfer it to myself inworld. Only takes a couple of minutes. Not sure what the hang up is for you.

Stuff you buy (providing you have sufficient funds in your Xstreet account) are delivered within a few seconds in most cases. Make sure that you are in world at the ttime of purchase or money transfer.

You can add more money from in world by going to an Xstreet atm and paying it. (Be very careful to pay the atm, and not someone standing around it.) You can also do this by paying some Avi whose name I can never remember, or Xstreet used to have a box you could rez on your land that did the same thing.

Best way to test the delivery system is to buy a few freebies.

No one minds the question, it's a good one. However, a better title would help the next person asking something similar. Questions about buying Lindens, account limits, and Slexchange/XStreet get asked frequently. The forum search is lame, but good titles do help.

Perhaps something like "XStreet (SLexchange) vs LindeX account limits". Using multiple key words, without abbreviations, makes it easier to do a title search.

and would avoid disappointing people like me who were expecting a more juicy topic.

Let me clear up a couple of things.

1. XStreetSL (formerly called SLExchange) was formerly a third party web site. It's now owned by Linden Lab, but accounts there are still handled as if it was an independent operation.

2. Almost everyone I know has a good experience using XStreetSL, either to buy or sell products, or to buy or sell $L.

3. It doesn't take "2-4 days" to buy $L on the Lindex (LL's website, this one here.) When you do buy, it's instantaneous. HOWEVER, there is a severe limit ($10US) on your first transaction, as a fraud protection measure. This limit is lifted after the first couple of days.

The REALLY confusing thing is that most people transfer $US to their SL account, and then try to buy $L with it. If you "Increase your $US balance", it counts against that initial transaction limit. So you wind up with, say, $25US to your credit, and no way (for a couple of days) to buy $L with it.

I have accounts at both XStreet and SL. I tend to use the Lindex to sell $L, if I need $US to pay tier or other LL fees. I use XStreet to buy $L, and to cash out $L for $US for my own pocketbook.
