Means I will actually have to get on with my work now. My employers struck lucky today!

Down to 20k. Presence server is affected. If you IM someone whom you know happens to be off, the IM goes through as if they are on.

I visited a new LM, thought it was a problem on my end, logged off and couldn't get back on. Haven't been able to for a while now. :-/

Same problem, sigh.

Network related VPN failure

[03:38 am PST] The root of the problem appears to be one rack of VPN hosts in one of our colocations. Technicians are on their way to fix it.

In the meantime, we have closed logins temporarily. Please refrain from rezzing no-copy objects and making large transactions.

Due to a VPN problem, you will find that regions inworld might not be visible from their neighouring regions at this time, or that region crossings won’t work.

You might also experience wait time or failure to log in.

Down to 18275 now. I haven't seen it this low, with the grid still online, for a couple of years.

Whatever happened to In World notices when the servers were acting up? We used to get them on a consistent basis when something was going wrong to avoid rezzing objects and losing items (and when items are lost, they are very hard to get returned even with filing a ticket).

So I was just curious as to why we no longer receive those "omg SL is acting up don't rez, don't purchase" messages anymore. Is it because it's happened so many times that we should just assume?

Granted, LL is working very hard to get SL up and running when there are issues but not everyone looks at the blog every minute of the day. A lil note in game goes a long way (not to mention saves us from losing inventory).

Several reasons for the lack of in-world notices.

1) As mentioned in another thread, not all Lindens have the ability to send them (crazy as it sounds), so if none of those who can are online, ain't going to happen.

2) When the servers are having issues, there have been verified cases (I remember them) where a notice was sent in-world, some people got it, some people didn't, leaving some people to plod along blissfully unaware because the notice never reached them.

3) Sometimes you get the notice, but it's blank.

That having been said though, I would like to see some of these issues addressed. 2 and 3 may be beyond their ability, after all the grid is borked, but number 1? That's a no-brainer. Give all the Lindens that ability!

At times like this I always think there's some flustered guy in a room full of overheating equipment reminiscent of Mr Scott in Star Trek shouting ;

'If I give her anymore cap'n she'll blow !!'

...either that or Hammy the Sl Hamster whose continual running in his wheel actually powers SL didn't get his vitamins today poor little fella.....

hmm.. I think they problem is they introduced a new hamster into the wheel... Harriet.. and well.... Hammy kinda got a bit distracted...

Well that would explain why SL has been up and down more often than a tart's knickers lately...
