Group Roles and Group Disbandment

when i go into my group and try to make new roles, the 'create new role' button is greyed out. so um... is there a limit to how many roles a group can have? anybody know what it is?


another thing i find curious.... ive been in two groups that have disbanded. the owners sent a 'farewell, it's been nice knowing you' notice and... quit the group. yet, the GROUP... was still there. it just stays there in perpetuity until everyone leaves? isn't there a 'disband group' option/button that would flush everyone out of the group when the owners decide to stop running it?

There is a limit to the number of Roles in a group. I think it's something like 8..

Groups are never ever ever ever ever deleted. If the founder leaves a group, the group carries on. They can eject everyone from the group, ban new memberships, and then leave the group themselves; but the group remains eternal (and the group name will never become available again).

Even if the group fails to recruit enough members to continue existing beyond the 3-day limit, it still isn't deleted, it just becomes inaccessible.

And, no, I have no idea why.

Just for completeness sake .

There's a maximum of 10 roles in a group, including the Everyone and Owners roles that can't be deleted.

Maybe it has something to do with objects set to group.

group objects... and group land? well but land could just revert, i expect. but... if a group is emptied out and the owners leave, and no one is IN the group (and its no longer open enrollment, obviously).... then no one can do anything with group-owned objects anyway. but then what should those revert to? hmm.

oh well, one of the mysteries of life, i guess!
