I considered putting this question in the animations forum, but that is mostly about help for making animations. Does anyone know where I can buy good, copyable, furniture animations eg think, read, etc? I did look under search in world but so much was not appropriate that I got downhearted. Any help would be most appreciated

Bits and Bobs has those furniture animations but they are transfer I think (or full perms for creators). I do find most places sell them transfer.

Furniture animations? Do you mean dancing on table or a table that dances? LOL!! (sorry for silly post but I could see original post had already been answered and thanked so I guessed it was OK)

If you get/buy full permission (or C/T at the least) poses from someone, do remember to properly set the next owner permissions on them before (or after, but easier to forget) you actually use them in your furniture.

Im no tech and no animator so maybe someone can tell me why, when I stand after sitting, I end up on top of the chair I got out of..is it that difficult to animate a person leaving a chair and standing next to it rather than on top of it ?
I particularly hate it when I get wedged between my chairs and my ceiling. Aside from the more general issues of lag and crashing find the way I leave a chair or sofa one of the few trully irritating things in sl.

Aside from the more general issues of lag and crashing find the way I leave a chair or sofa one of the few trully irritating things in sl. Unfortunately animations don't really work that way; once you click the "stand up" button the animation ends rather abruptly and you're left standing wherever the pose script placed you, there's no chance to play a "rising to one's feet" animation. Picture it this way: the first thing sitting on an object does is take your hips and plant them on the cushion where they need to be, THEN very quickly plays an animation so you appear to be sitting. When you stand up, the animation stops and you're left standing but your hips are still planted where they were, i.e., on the cushion. SL know avatars shouldn't really be sticking through chairs and buried up to their shins in the ground, so the physics system pops you straight up until you're not stuck inside anything any more, and voila you end up standing on top of the chair. (This is also why some poseballs send you flying across the room when you get up - the hip position has your standing avatar buried up to your neck or some such thing, and the physics engine spits you out a bit more adamantly.) That said, a clever animator can adjust the hip position of a sit so that you start and finish slightly in front of the chair and sort of "settle back" into the proper seated position in between, so you can sit in the right spot and still not get stuck standing on the furniture when you're done - but it takes some planning and depending on the pose can tend to spoil the sitting position for people who might want to use that animation in an AO. I do a bit of that in my sits, which is why I sell them in poseballs and not in an animation vendor.

Connifer - neither lol. Sitting or laying type animations which you put on a chair or lounger.
Yes I quite agree Kitty, it is necessary to ensure that any item is set for perms correctly.
Maelstrom, totally agree, even with the best furniture, its a problem.

I'd better make a serious contribion now! I have some animated dining chairs that have a realistic eating script, suitable for use with knife and fork attachments. The chairs only cost me L$50 each, although they are no copy. Next time I'm logged in I'll check out what they're called.

I'm certainly no animations expert, but I solved the trapped between the furniture and the ceiling bit, simply by making higher ceilings. So many builders insist on saving TOO many prims by giving us 5m high ceilings, even in castles. I make ceilings at least 7m high and in a castle 10m high.

I make ceilings at least 7m high and in a castle 10m high. Unfortunately my 'ground' house was built by someone else... and trying to adjust it would Im sure end up in ruining it. Oddly shrinking the chairs doesnt seem to work. Fortunately my sky station is somewhat more spacious.
