Sold all land: Why can't I tier down?

I was holding group land under an alt (with his own group), and paying $40 tier. I sold all the land, but didn't bother to change the group ownership, since only "he" and I were in that group. All the proceeds from the land sales seem to have come through. (It still only went to the alt alone, and wasn't divided amoung group members).

Anyway, on the SL web page, I can't tier down! All of the tier button choices below $40 are greyed out. It says "7072 sq meters donated," but also says "no parcels found." I do realized that I need to pay the $40 one last time, but what is the deal with not being able to select the new tier? I've changed tier levels up and down on my main account with no problems.

Thanks Ann,

I'm really confused, though. I thought I was donating land, not tier. And I always performed that action within the land description, none of which the alt even owns anymore.

So can I reclaim the tier somewhere in the group info when I'm in-world?

I can't get in-world to check for a few hours, but I think it's on the last tab of your group info window. As long as LL thinks you donated tier to a group, regardless of whether it actually owns any land, I believe they will keep charging for the tier.

I have both land AND tier donated to my land group. I think it's deed with contribution?

When you donate land to a group it's no longer yours, it's the group's. Thus you get charged for donated tier, not the land specifically. And yes, you need to go to the Land tab of Group info and set your contribution amount to 0.
