Should we really be allowing adults to be wandering around posing as kids in world? seems a little pointless, not to mention extremely wrong, sick and twisted don't you think.

I know there are some people who like this sort of thing but surely it needs addressing.

Really we should just ban any avatar that doesn't look exactly like it's creator.

Should we really be allowing adults to be wandering around posing as other people in world? seems a little pointless, not to mention extremely wrong, sick and twisted don't you think.

I know there are some people who like this sort of thing but surely it needs addressing.

Personally I think that avatars with any reference to dirt or mud in their name should be eliminiated.

Yes, it's all very inconvenient, these non-standard avatars. If they're not kids, they're furries, or mechs, or blobs of lime jello. I mean, they're just not conducive to the sexual fantasies that drive the Second Life economy.

Only Mattel®-approved Barbie® and Ken® avatars should be allowed.

And animals, furries, robots, super-intelligent shades of blue, or indeed anything not a near replica of the RL appearance of the typist behind the avatar.

Although...on second thoughts... Those 'cloud-of-white-smoke' avatars I see around the place..
I have to admit that I love when they move. They leave smoke trails. Like riders far off in a dusty landscape. So maybe leave them

Couldn't the suggested solution be circumvented by avatars adjusting their rl bodies to match their inworld look?

No.

We should just ban trolling on the forums.

When did it become a crime to have an imagination? Try again, Mr. Thought Police. Perhaps someday you'll actually be able to convince us that you're increasing our chocolate ration to 25 grams a week (yes I'm using this reference again).

Ok, I guess you all think it's fine and no harm which is a little disturbing, obviously every avi can't look like the real person behind it but there is a difference between posing as robots, dragons and furry's etc and posing as a child! however you twist it.

Only if you assume that the only reason anyone would play a child av is because they are a pedophile.

And if you assume that then it says more about you than it does about the people who rp as kids.

Oh, btw, I'm one of those people, although recently I drank some Ent juice and grew a bit.

For me playing a child is about reliving a bit of the carefree and fun life of my childhood.

You're right, there is a difference between a robot, a dragon and a child...

Seriously, you're barking at the wrong tree. It doesn't matter what an avatar looks like. It's what they do that matters. If someone wants to pose as a child riding a merry-go-round, it's perfectly fine with me. If they want to pose as a child having sex with you, it's plain sick. Not to mention illegal in many countries. It all depends on what they do, not what they look like.

As a person who is often in world as not only an animal, but a "child" animal at that, I am responding on the very remote chance your question is meant to be taken seriously.

1. Look up Marianne McCann's profile in world and hang out for five minutes in the crowd that is often around her. One of her fireworks displays is a good opportunity. You will see why your question is utterly irrelevant.

2. Not everyone in SL is interested in sexual situations.

3. Get counseling.

Surely there are some other parents out there who agree that this is wrong, we all had our shots at being kids when we where kids. Adults posing as children on the internet is not a good thing however you try and justify it with the "I'm releasing my inner child" and "I'm reliving my childhood" bullshit.

If any of us knew how to "grow up", SL would be a pretty empty place.

Now seriously, go wank somewhere else.

It's the adults posing as grown ups that I find annoying.

It isn't my thing (I find an educated snuffer better company than a lisping kid) but as long as they are kept in the PG areas that is fine by me.

Pep (The annoying thing is that the forums are PG so they can read and post on threads like this even! )

Believe what you like, Second Life is just that, a chance at living your life as you like under the TOS, if its not child avatars its someone who has something against furries, elves, giant robots, anime avatars, game characters, androids, gnomes, dwarfs, dragons, or flying fairy toasters.

Take out the imagination factor and you'd have just another game where you level up, go on quests, and look like every other character named Goku41257785 and ooSephirothoo1148.

As for banning child avatars there's really no point. The only ban-able offense is if the child avatar and adult form avatar engage in sexual role play. But there is nothing in the Second Life Terms of Service that expressly prohibits child avatars in world.

Ban the child avatars and you'd have to effectively put an end to all non pure human forms in the game just to be fair to everyone in Second Life. Kind of like Sony's Home online service, extremely bland and tastes like cardboard.

Oh and in before the lock!
