Is there a way to shut off that Yellow Blazing beam of light that surrounds a prim if we want..sometimes i get to where i am doing touch up work on my builds and this light becomes more of a hindrance than a help..
i know we need it for things like linking and other things but most of the time i know what i am working on and it would be nice to shut it off..does anyone know of a way or if there is a way to tone it down.. it would be nice if they only had that bright yellow for primary prims only and used the blue for everything else..

I know you can make it really small by going to Advanced>Debug Settings, then pull down the little arrow until you see SelectionHighlightThickness. Then there is another fiedl below that with numbers. I think the smallest setting is 0.001. Mine seemed to be set this way already, so that may not help you if it's the default, or it could have carried over from a previous viewer a long time ago when I read about it somewhere. I found the very thin line to be less annoying, default or not.

You have to restart to see the changes in the selection highlight, unfortunately.
You can change
SelectionHighlightAlpha to .2, so it's more transparent,
SelectionHightlightThickness to .005, so it's thin, and
SelectionHighlightVAnim to 0, so it doesn't throb and pulsate.
Adjust values to taste.
Also in the Tools menu, you can uncheck "ShowHiddenSelection", then it won't show every edge, just ones of the visible faces.

Try changing the time to midnight and camming in really close. It actually *helps* then. It's one of those 'features' that you eventually get used to and find it is useful in the end. Only took me a year

I too found that nightfall detracts during building. Ctrl-Shift-Y (midday lighting) helps a lot.

It's not that the yellow selection highlight (or blue) bothers me... it's the fact that it seems to get BIGGER as you zoom in, causing alignment checks to be a pain in the behind. One would assume that the outline would get smaller and fade out altogether when zoomed in.
And I've already voted for that one!

It's also a pain when resizing hair manually. You need to look at the hair from several angles to get it right, but the highlighting makes it difficult to judge how it looks. Even a relatively low-prim male hair object will have a few dozen prims.
