Rolling Restart or Rollback?

heyas;

last night (april 24, 2008)... a few strange coincidences happened in a row.

1: someone im'd a group for help with losing 13K items in inventory. which hopefully hadnt been put INTO inventory within one hour :X

2: someone im'd me asking if a region had been rolled back, because data on his fishingpole lost an hour's worth of stats.

3: i logged in this morning and found two objects i had been building last night, but not a third and final one, which i was looking for.


okay, the third object didnt represent a heck of a lot of work, so i'm not too put out. but if rollbacks were going on, and inventory was being erased.... shouldn't someone have told us? if i had lost my new split level house and pig head that i worked on for 2 hours or so, i WOULD have been REALLY miffed!
'oh, sorry, we just rolled back those three hours you were working on an important project. do it over again.'
?!?!?!?

or was it just coincidence, and im paranoid?? i know there was a rolling restart, but they never caused this sort of thing before.

Unless you happen to know the person and know they're SL-savy enough to try the common "fix" scenarios before claiming inventory loss, take it with a big grain of salt.

The odds are that all that person needed was a clear cache, a relog into an empty (old) Linden water sim and a refetch.
