Just noticed this in the release notes for 1.19.1(4) back on April 2, 2008: "Improved object update code (less work for the CPU) - attachments are no longer added to the active list, which improves performance in crowded areas" from http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_NotesI hadn't noticed any remarkable difference, but then I'm rarely in crowded areas. It'd be interesting to run a test with a bunch of people, the first time wearing non-flexi attachments (I'm thinking hair,) the second wearing flexi attachments (skirts,) and the third wearing no attachments. Just out of curiosity.

We could have an attachment party at the hangout..
I have not noticed much of an improvement. But I try to avoid crowded places as well...

Any test would reflect more truly if we ran it in an empty or nearly empty sim. Places with lots of scripts/textures/crap has too many variables. Anyone got an empty sim handy, LOL?
