hi! I just bought a bunch of freebie type items for 1L. Inside the box was the item alien cloud. I put it on the floor and a purple cloud appeared. OK fine- I try clicking on it and there is no option to take it back. I tried to go to edit and apparently I can't edit it- the only other information I got from it was when I click under properties the name is Alien cloud and the description is damani freebies. Now where do I go from here? It's right in the middle of my lovely apartment. Help????!!!! Thanks for your time- you guys are really helpful here!

Hit CTRL+ALT+T to display scripted items. Look for a small red object in the middle of the cloud. Right click it and select Take or Delete.
Failing that, IM Damanios Thetan. Sounds like it's his.

It's probably a bunch of particles coming from a very small prim, too small to find with your cursor amidst all the cloud stuff.
Maybe try turning off rendering of particles so you can more easily zoom in and find the darn thing.

Edit > Properties > Graphics tab (I think)
Set Particles to zero and apply.

Another solution:
Right-click and edit any object around you to go into edit mode.
Left-click and drag to select the area around the cloud. The object emitting the cloud will be highlighted and (if it's a physical follower) frozen.
Right-click and take or More > Delete the emitter.
This will also help if the object is invisible (full alpha) even with particles off.

Set Particles to zero and apply. That gets rid of the annoying particles in YOUR view. It does not delete the object or affect others' view.

From: Monjolichat Spyker I have gone into edit mode and found the emitter- I can't take or delete it though- it won't go away. Check ownership. Does it belong to you? (It should, it came out of your inventory!) If it doesn't, go into About Land and look for "objects owned by others". Return the offending object. EDIT: It's more likely locked, as Anti suggests. Unlock it first, then delete it.

I guess some of my early full perms stuff is never going away...
To delete: - go to edit (ctrl-3) - hold the left mouse button while dragging the mouse from the left top to the right bottom of where the smoke cloud starts. You draw a box over the area, and the emitter gets selected. - check in edit window (general tab) how many items are selected (make sure it's just the particle cloud) - go to the object tab and check if 'locked' is checked, if so, uncheck it - press delete
The item should be gone then.
