I have someone that is making an accusation about someone else stealing their stuff. They said they can prove it by the "texture ID". Is this right?
I have asked this individual to file a DMCA notice, to submit a trouble ticket and contact concierge. Before it was easy to see the BIAB but this one is not as easy to notice.
What other things can I seek that could prove this to me so I can make the appropriate decisions?
Thank you

Texture UUID doesn't prove the identity of the creator, unfortunately.

You might ask where the texture was originated from, with many drawing from simular sources, it may be neithers lol if they both got textures from google images or Mayong's(sp) or a rash of other free texture sources both could be confused with ownership rights . If it is a true created texture brought in world stolen then there is a position to deal from .

From: Yumi Murakami Texture UUID doesn't prove the identity of the creator, unfortunately. If you meant to say "you can't prove that whoever uploaded a texture actually did create that texture", ignore everything below . LL can look up which avie uploaded a texture by key if they wanted to, or anyone who has an actual inventory copy of the texture (you can check the uploader from the inventory asset and compare UUIDs). It doesn't prove infringement on the other hand (for a third party). If I create a unique texture and upload it: 1) I don't hand it out but slap it on a prim and you "copybot" it, or 2) I hand out the texture and you slap it on a prim. In both cases you end up with the exact same prim and same texture UUID but only I would know if I handed the texture out or not (and for whatever reason I may not be honest about saying I never handed out the texture).

i have bought textures to use on prims, and if they are stolen, there is no way for me to know that.
once textures are 'inworld' they are pretty much open to cloning, even if they have a watermark. if someone sells them to unknowing customers, who is to blame then?

Shouldn't surprise anyone that someone is saying they have been robbed as this is the main paranoia that grips sl. Now, I'm not saying it didn't happen with this person or that it doesn't happen at times because like everything else things do happen. Just not as much as they would have you believe. Just pointing out this excessive, unwarranted fear of builders believing someone is always trying to copy their stuff runs rampant in sl. As if they really for the first time in the history of man invented whatever it is they built.
