There being no Live Help group anymore, doesn't it seem like the Live Help forum should be archived?
I just saw a post that should have been in Technical Help or Resident Answers posted in the Live Helper forum, where it will probably not get the attention it would have in either Technical or RA.

From: Morena Tully Please help if anyone knows how to fix this. I had SL on this same laptop3 or 4 months ago, stopped playing so uninstalled it, now I came back, reinstalled, and all sculpties are always just a sphere. It never happened before, and now I have uninstalled/reinstalled 3 times, cleared everything SL off my puter so that there was no trace of SL on it, turned up all my settings (even though it worked fine before on lower ones) and still no good. Was there something new added in my absence that now makes it impossible for them to rez properly on my mediocre puter? Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I couldn't find anything. I really need to see things as they should be, as I am an avid landscaper, and placing the good sculpted items is impossible Heres the one /206/52/277183/1.html#post2112566

From: Fusia Blaisdale Dear Second Life residents.
I am a very newbie to Second life and have used the search in the Knowledge base and also through google under every variation of words to try to find out what I have done wrong but I can't seem to find anythigng in the FAQ or forum 'before posting' and i stayed up til 4am last night trying to work it out and I am still no further so I hope you will be patient with what must seem like a silly question.
i joined up and chose i ( i found out later as a female ( which I am) wood elf.I changed my appearance etc to a human female person. But yet no matter even though the radio button is on 'Female' in the apperance tab as in the directions as Female.
All my Gestures that are active and my Voice if I type say /hey for example is all Male sounding nad Male Gestures not female and I can't for the life of me find on the net how to fix what I have done.
Would someone have the patience to direct me to a url where I can find out how to fix what I have done wrong? or perhaps tell me if it's simple to fix?
thanks for your time
--------- p.s since theni have found after more hours of looking that if I go to the pie and edit the sound of each gesture by highlighting each active gesture e.g hey and then click edit down the bottom and then I am Supoosed to chose fromthe Drop Down Menu Female but i only have the word NONE in there and it said that there should be female and male . and then I am supposed to click save and then repeat for each gesture. It appears I dont' have this drop down menu , it only says NONE there is no Female to pick from for sound etc. Is this the avatar or are those instructions old that I found ? thanks again I really appreciate your patience and time with me. Heres the other one /206/4e/276575/1.html#post2109029

If archiving it is a problem, because it would change forum id numbers, or some such, then they could just close it.
I know LL doesn't want to spend any effort on the forums, but leaving a forum open indefinitely for a closed official volunteer group seems pitifully stupid and lazy, to put it as diplomatically as I can.
For the sculpty problem posted by Morena, we would need system specs - what kind of laptop, what video card, what versions of SL, what video drivers. General advice would be uninstall current drivers, carefully run a driver cleaner, install latest drivers from ATI, nVidia, Intel, or whatever is appropriate.
For the problem with Gesture gender not matching avatar sex, I think the answer is:
1. Open the inventory and select the appropriately gendered folder of gestures
2. Drag that folder to your av, which wiill activate the gestures in that folder
3. Open the wrong genders' folder of gesture. Right click all of them and select deactivate.

then they'd be all over it. Only if it interferes with the build tools.

The SL Live Helpers forum in located in the SL Volunteers sub forum. Forums for SL Volunteer groups (Mentors, Instructors, Greeters, Live Helpers, ResMods) It was a place for Live Helpers to discuss issues they had as Live Helpers or the share their experiences. It is NOT a forum for residents to ask for help. The information contained in that forum could be useful to people interested in helping new residents or to SL Mentors.

Closing the forum in place, or archiving it, doesn't render it invisible.
It not being a place to ask for help is what motivated the thread.
