Streaming Video issue...

have noticed random chaos in SL as of late, and another one of those issues is streaming video.

Last night I was talking to a club owner who took me on a tour of the club... He showed me the theatre where he runs comedy movies (Three Stooges and the like), I have my settings to run streaming video just like his is set, he is watching and hearing the movie, and me? NOTHING! No video and no sound. OH! our voice chat works very well and all other sounds too. But I also noticed I cannot see streaming particles like fireworks, dragons breathing fire ECT. So could it be another setting I am not aware of?
I am not one to complain at all, I am simply posing a question, as I assume there is a simple answer and solution to it.

It's possible that you have an older version of the Quicktime software. If the video your were trying to watch is encoded in a newer audio/video codec then you would not be able to see/hear the movie.

Also possible that you had your Video options turned off in preferences. If you can see a video 'play' button at the bottom of the screen tehn your video is turned on. IF not, then check your preferences and make sure video is enabled.

Also possible that the video player was set up to only show to one avatar at a time. There are two different scripting commands to play a video, one shows to everyone on the parcel , the other only to the person who starts the video.

Particles don't really have anything to do with the video settings, but you may have them turned off on accident. Check your Client menu for the Rendering>Particles setting. if you don't see Client as a menu option you can turn it on with ctrl-alt-shift-D . I think. that key combo may not be right. not in SL to check ATM.

Have you updated your quicktime? I know i can't watch video because i haven't done this yet.
