How do you get to "Next," or "Page 2" or 3, etc., in new "Search All??

I downloaded the preview viewer with this monstrous, ungodly new "all" search that will likely make me quit this game. And I do mean that.
My problem is, I can't click on "next" or "page 2" etc., in that new "All" section. (The rest of the sections - classified, etc. - work fine, just like always.)
So I can't even investigate where I am on it.
What am I doing wrong?

Scroll down to the bottom of the results page, and you should see "previous 1 … x next" links, Google style. They didn't use buttons matching the other search tabs, which is a little confusing.

No wait - I mean this: At the bottom of the page, there are places to click the next pages (presumably) that say . . . 2, 3, 4, 5 [etc.], Next Page. Surely those are intended to be clicked on. None of them work. I can't get off the first page. Instead, it just highlights part of the page I'm on. ???? coco

Those things at the bottom that look like they ought to work actually ought to work. They work for me.
Is there anything odd going on with your setup? For example, do you have the UI Size set to something other that 1? Are you using an 800 by 600 display?

Okay, never mind, here's the deal:
I went through it on the WEB and got the subsequent pages to come up and work as expected.
secondlife.com/app/search/search?q=coco
(Left off the http slash slash part so this wouldn't scroll.)
But apparently this has not yet been implemented in the game. You can only read the first page, in the game in the preview client.

They work for me, as I said in the post above.
example: I put in classes as the search term, I get many pages of results - page 1 has at the top TUI -Edumart, go to the bottom of the screen and click next i get the second page, with Classes Offered By Mentors at the top.
Maybe you aren't using the latest release candidate, Second Life 1.18.5 . It's only been out a day or so.

Well, I just downloaded it today, so yes, it's the right one. And I had to fiddle with settings to where I could even SEE the bottom of the search screen, and when I did that, I couldn't click on it, and it just highlighted the rest of it. (And of course, I couldn't click on them when the screen was too large to show them.) I don't know, I just love spending hours figuring out how to even get the simplest things to work. That is just why I joined SL, in fact. coco

Are you using an 800 by 600 display?
What "fiddling" did you have to do to get the search screen to fit properly?
There's an option in Preferences, Graphics Tab, labeled UI Size. Did you have to adjust that?
If you are using an 800 by 600 display, do you have to? The Second Life display just barely fits on an 800 by 600 display, it it does at all.

OK, I have a wide-screen monitor. There are two places to choose things. One is the place where it says 800 x 600, and then goes on to list four or so more. Then there is the place where it says, among other things, "wide-screen." It also says something about, "automatically detect." I am currently trying all possible combinations. I have gone first for the most obvious, like WIDE SCREEN MONITOR, but hey, maybe that doesn't mean anything at all like what I think it does, i.e., like the wide-screen monitor I have. Here's what we have to choose from: 800x600 1024x1768 1152x864 1280x1024 1600x900 1680x150 UI Size (which I had at 1, but fiddled with that, too) Full Screen Aspect Ratio: 16:9 4:30 (Standard CRT) 5:4 1280x1024 LCD 16:0 (widescreen) Plus that "automatically detect" button (on or off). That makes 48 possible combinations to try, or 96, if you count with that button on and with it off. Now I've tried just a WHOLE BUNCH of these so far (some of which fail) and no matter what I do I CANNOT CLICK ON the page 2 and next page and so on. Does being on Mozilla have anything to do with this? There's got to be a better way than sitting here trying all these combinations and continually coming up with nada. It works on the web! Why can't I get it to work in the game? When others of you say you can? coco
P.S. I can get it so that I see EVERYTHING ELSE in SL, and everything else works! The regular search, everything, just not this page 1,2,3,..... NEXT on the Search All.
Unless - I'm out on the web, where it works as expected.
Should I just stop banging my head over this? Likely somewhere deep in the bowels of all these game versions, blogs, jiras, forums on this and that version, etc., there is an answer somewhere.

Based your having a widescreen monitor now, I take it you did get that Dell computer you'd mentioned a while back. I was think you still had the old one with only 256 megs of memory; that's why I thinking you might be using a low resolution display setting like 800 by 600. That apparently is not the case.
Is that running Vista?
Automatically Detect should work.
There might well just be a bug that's making your system not work properly. This new version just came out yesterday or so, so there hasn't much time to find bugs yet.
Anyone with a widescreen monitor running Vista able to duplicate Coco's problem? Or to verify that it works? Or offer any other help?

Yep, it's the new computer, but no, it's not Vista.
I'm thinking it is some sort of a bug, and was looking around the forums to try to find out where people were discussion this version, but I can't find it.

There is an (ancient) bug where SL will simply mess up the layout of the "browser" window.
Search for your own name/profile and hover your mouse over your name to see if it will highlight the link. If it doesn't, move the mouse about 0.5-1" down until you see the highlight and then click on the seeminly empty space.
All the UI elements on webpages in SL will be offset by that same amount if you're running into that bug, so just click below where you're supposed to click when you see a highlight, or the cursor changes.

I recall you mentioning that bug before, Kitty, do you have a Jira issue handy on it ?
The mozilla browser was already an important thing to fix, with the new search, more so, so more votes for that issue would be good, even if it's not the cause of Coco's machine's problem.

From: SuezanneC Baskerville I recall you mentioning that bug before, Kitty, do you have a Jira issue handy on it? I never did figure out what causes it so I never filed one. I run into it on my main puter, but not the other, and without a solid repro it would just get dismissed .

Might actually be able to repro it now, and seems to be related to an even older bug I ran into and did report.
I've always run SL at 1024x768 full-screen (should be 4:3), but my desktop runs at the native 1280x1024 (5:4) and SL always refused to stick to 4:3 (it would just revert to 5:4 on the next run, even though all the settings claimed it was at 4:3 - unchecking auto-detect never made a difference).
Long story short: could someone try running SL full-screen, at 1024x768, with an aspect ratio of 5:4 and see if the web UI elements are all messed up?

But it didn't help. couldn't see any highlight, either. I'll give it more go's, though. coco P.S. I also run at full-screen, but I tried it windowed to see if that would fix it, and it didn't.

Coco, do any of the links on the pages that you can see work?
For example, I just clicked on a link, and it must have been a wiki link, because it displayed the wiki in the search dialog. (Now if they could just design the wiki pages to display well formatted when they occuppy a small amount of screen space...)
Or is it not just the page number and next links that don't work but actually none of the links work?
