Hi everyone,
I'm pretty new to SL and I purchased some items like clothes, glasses and also an female adult bodypart. These items appeared in my inventory with that yellow box icon. But I can't wear them as clothes.
So how can I add my items correctly?
Best Regards, Marco

Hello MarcoTorrance!
What you need to do is pull the box from your inventory onto the ground. It might be clickable or you might have to right button click/edit/contents and pull the items out from the box and into your inventory.

If they are in a box you need to drop them on the ground (in an area that lets anyone have build rights) and open the box and then copy the clothing items to your inventory.
Um.... female adult body parts?
Nevermind... forget I asked.

Thank you very much for the quick help!
It's really hard to find dropable places! Is there a way, how I can find island with drops allowed?

Here's a list of sandboxes where you will be able to rez your boxes so that you can open them and add them to your inventory so you can wear your new clothes: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/SandboxYou can also do a search for "sandbox" in the viewer to find other places. Also some places like the Forum Cartel Hangout in the Allana sim will allow you rez and open boxes there if you join the Forum Cartel group and wear the tag (the title over your head). Other places may also offer you that ability depending on how their land is set up. Just make sure you right click and "take" or "delete" your box afterwards as it is considered common courtesy to clean up after yourself.

I'm fairly new to SL myself - and found out that there are some really cool dressing rooms (just do a search for 'dressing room' in search) that let you unpack your boxes AND some of them have some really good freebies in them. I found some nice hair in one!! Good quality hair too -

Many groups will allow you to rez objects on group-owned land if you are wearing the group tag. The Forum Cartel is one such.

Also some stores (not many, but some) that are no-rez have "Open Boxes Here" zones in the store. It's not a common thing, but you might keep your eyes open when you're shopping, and if you see it, you'll be able to take advantage of that service when you have made your purchase. Just be sure to delete your box after you open it and copy/transfer the items inside to your inventory. This goes for every place.

Careful, though when rezzing the "female adult bodypart;" I was once drafted in to help find one that a friend had just bought and then rezzed without realising that it was not, in fact, in a box and that she was just supposed wear it. (Cue joke about looking for a lost pussy). Yes, if she'd read the notecard she would have realised this, but the fact is she didn't and it took several of us scouring the area with highlight transparent turn on to find the damn thing (no, it wasn't up a tree) after we'd stopped laughing.
If you are unsure, it might be an idea to check by just selecting and wearing it in your inventory -- the worst that can happen is you'll end up with a box on your right hand. Or make sure the edit tool is activated when you drag the item out of your inventory -- that way it stays selected, so if it turns out to be the object itself and not a package, you can easily pick it up again. Don't wear a rezzed attachment from the ground, whatever you do, there's a particularly voracious SL bug that tends to eat them if you do. Always take it back into your inventory and wear if from there.
The problem is that the little yellow cube indicates that the thing is "an object," as opposed to an article of clothing or something, which might mean it's a prim attachment or the box in which it's packed.

Was that the one that was eventually found hanging on the front door, or, under the floor of the house, a long time later? (One of the funniest pieces of RA Forum lore I've ever read....)

(One of the funniest pieces of RA Forum lore I've ever read....) No.. this was in the middle of Sensations back when you could rez stuff there. She'd just bought it from a vendor and wanted to try it on. Not as funny as the forum thread, but it goes to show how common a hazard this is.
