I've been experiencing a lot of crashes on TP too in the past week. SL in general has been crappy for me in the past week...laggy, crashy, freezing.

*sigh*

This problem is often network-related, and yesterday's ISP-specific connection problem (http://status.secondlifegrid.net/2008/10/01/post267/ ) was closed with a suggestion to contact one's ISP if problems persist, so... perhaps they persist. On the other hand, a good power-cycle to all one's local network gear has been known to fix this too, sometimes.

I had this problem about a year ago.

Try resetting your router and modem, then don't run anything other than SL and try it.

Bittorrent clients and older modems don't get along very well, especially with SL.

I had my ISP replace my modem and it's been fine since.

I personally have done the whole modem reboot, don't have AOL, not in the UK. It was fine last week, this week is sucks.

I'll just tough it out until it straightens itself out...again (we've done this before).

There are times when the viewer will close when I tp to a location from within the search. It happens for a day or so every few weeks then goes away by itself.

ok a resolution of sorts, for anyone with a similar dilemma , search for the place in places as opposed to 'all' and then show on map , and tp from there , tadahhhhhh no sore bottom :-)
Thanks to DigitalJack Blackhawk for that top tip
