Artisole Verfying - So easy a deadman can do it!

Millie locked the original thread of this title, because she didn't like the topic. I've opened the topic again, because I don't like so-called moderators abusing their limited abilities in this way.

Millie. Since you are moderating here, albeit almost powerlessly, don't make decisions according to your personal preferences. That's not how to moderate a forum. In this particular case, it's an important SL topic for discussion - and current.

This topic isn't new. We had a thread not long ago, about how Aristotle accept dead people's info for verification. It seems to me that they don't actually verify anything about the person at the keyboard - just that the data 'looks' ok.

Yes, I did not mean it out of disrespect. I was simply trying to help those who are stuck unable to verify them-selfs. Just trying to help Linden Lab customers use widely available information.

The topic is indeed not new, but it seemed like the right time to bring the subject back into focus.

I just reported the lock. While I agree with Millie's opnion, it does not change the fact that no forum rules were invoked for locking.

If I remember forum AR policy, a linden as well as mods wills ee it.

I tested this with an alt I went here

You can go here (SSI Death Database) http://ssdi.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi
and search any name to get their information.

Put in that info for adult verification and using an alt it verified with no errors and I was able to immediately TP to adult land with absolutely no proof of my real age.


Adult Verification does not work and any kid can do the same. So just because someone is on the adult region does not mean they are real adult.

Aristotle verification is a total joke - because it's not verification. LL must be aware of it, as there have been enough threads about it. I wonder why they continue with it. To pretend to be doing something good?

This also makes the Adult portion of the grid less secure sense it can so easily be faked.
Considering it is harder to fake / steal payment info vs Artisole, the whole system is now 100% pointless.

Except that the huge masses of people who asked for seperation can choose not to go to the adult content, and choose to have their search results filtered.

It does what is legally required. COPA got killed in the senate, so, all the fuss is currently needless (^_^)y

I wonder if the motivation for locking that thread was more about it encouraging people to circumvent the system as opposed to be squeamish on the subject.

Actually, being verified before did not always get you into flagged parcels and not being verified did not keep you out, so I have no reason to expect that the new *adult* designation is any different. Many have already reported that being age-verified does not get them in to the Adult designated areas - that only the payment info on file or used is doing so.

This is more of dealing with an exploit of the age verification system involving falsified data to get into mature areas in SL. Its basically identity theft.
