Hello Folks,

I have a small home for private fun. I have been controlling who can come in, but it is time to let some of my friends have some access to invite other people to my place when I am not their. I also need help in granting access so my friends can rez items in my home. The problem I just do no want anyone doing and I do not want anyone to move objects I have setup, or be able to take objects I currently have in place.

Any help or suggestions on what I can do would be awesome.

1) Create a group.
2) Deed your land to your group.
3) Make only yourself have Ownership and Liabilities (you pay the Tier and Fees) of the group.
4) Invite your friends to join your group as members.
5) Allocate to them the powers you want to using the group land controls.

You can create a group and invite your friends in it.

Deed the land to the group and then they have also access to the land options.
They can add people to the access list.

Or if you don't want to deed the land to the group you can set the group to the land and give only members of the group access to your land.

You can give build rights to the members of the group.
When you want you can also give build rights to everybody but the objects created by non-group members can be autoreturned after xx minutes.

Thank you both for the info. Now I just have to figure out how to create my own group. I had a feeling that is what I had to do.

Thank you for the quick response.

Why is restricting access (as opposed to permissions) so important here? Unless the parcel is smack up against a Mainland InfoHub or some very popular club or something, how many unwanted visitors could it possibly attract?

It's your land and you can set it however you want, of course, but since a few months after first owning land I've used very simple parcel settings: short auto-return interval and everything else (public access, scripts, build, entry) enabled--which are the default settings.

The above suggestions about Group settings are very good for controlling object permissions and some special abilities such as terraforming and rezzing Linden plants. But whereas it's possible to restrict access to the group or a list of named residents, it's just a lot more work than it's worth in all but the worst, most hostile locations.

[ETA: Transitioning a parcel to use a non-zero Auto-Return interval requires attention to what's already on the parcel, to make sure everything is set to the same group as that of the parcel.]

What Qie said. But it sometimes takes a while for first time landowners to reach this point =)

And I should have said that you should be a good neighbour and invite your neighbours into your group just so they dont have to look at the banlines you have up already that you cant see.
