Is there any way to make your avie invisible? I am shooting some videos and I really don't want my avie in them. Any ideas?

Someone here might be able to advise you on how to script a prim to make you invisible or you could simply search for a product that does so. I know I have seen some in the past.

Shoot the video while in mouselook mode, and turn off your mouselook cursor.

tried the prims and you can see the shadow distorting the image... how do I turn off the mouse look curser? I tried mouselook.. but the controls were so choppy...

Do a search for an invisiprim script. They are pretty common and sound like what you want.

Invisiprims can leave "holes" in your shot.

Put a sit target in a piece of scenery and hide your avie inside it.

or... find an animation that pushes your avie underground.

If you don't want ANY avie in the shot, you can press Ctrl-Alt-Shift-4.

I realize this won't help you in the short term but you might want to consider picking up a 3D Connexion Space Navigator for moving around in mouse look mode, is is really quite impressive the amount of control you have with that thing. I think you will find it to be much less "choppy" for shooting videos in mouse look mode.

you could always move your camera away from your avvie by holding alt, clicking and dragging your cammera around. if you practise enough, you can put your camera in front of your avvie and still see the same view...

I have an animation that pushes the avvie into the ground, your name tag still is visible, but the avvie is not seen. I will send it to you when I log in next time

If you need an invisiprim drop me an IM inworld. But invisiprims tend to screw textures with alpha channel, so they are really not a good option for what you need.

Why don't you move your avatar somewhere out of sight and record machinima by altcamming? If you use ath, ctrl and shift, you can move your camera around (even to the next sim) without moving your avatar.
