Dream State? Do you mean Dreamland or REM sleep?

Dreamland is a privately owned estate and not the same as Main Grid.

What do you mean by this? Not the same as the main grid? Just becuase it is not Main land does not mean it is not part of the grid.

"The Grid" Is Agni, all sims are within it, regardless of estate ID.

Do you mean external grids.. outside LL?

This central grid?:

Never heard of Dream State if so. They must be new.

From Google:

Seems it is an opensim project.

http://www.dreamstategrid.com/ and http://www.centralgrid.com/

both seem to operate off the same data base because when I tried to set up a duplicate avatar of my name it was already in the system.

that was my question are they one and the same?

Website basics look awful simillar.

I asked over at SLU.. maybe monitor there and see if someone comes up with an answer too. Plenty of OpenSim people there that may know.

They might be owned by the same organisation but Central Grid and Dreamstate are separate grids, according to the Open Sim grid list. There are 24 online Open Sim based grids listed at present. Central Grid has 335 regions, while Dreamstate has 15, so it seems.

All these grids are clones of SL - they look like SL and work like SL, but with some functions disabled. They are a kind of 'SL beyond LL'. Open Life is another, one of the biggest.

Distinct from the clones, there are also copycats of SL, like the Chinese worlds Novoking and HiPiHi. They have been developed from scratch and are visually a bit different from SL, but clearly the people behind them must have taken a good look at SL!

The OpenSim grid list is editable by anyone, FYI. Regardless as to whether or not they're separate grids, they're both owned by the same company, and I strongly caution anyone getting involved with Central Grid to read the thread Macphisto linked first.

And OpenSim isn't a clone of SL. It's designed to work with the same viewer that SL uses so obviously it's going to look functionally similar.

If it were simply a clone then LL wouldn't be involved with interoperability between the two of them.
