Creating an alt...

Hello all,

I saw a lot of times that you comment about Alts's. So i would like to ask some about this topic.

It's suppose that it's possible to create 5 alts maximum using the same email. But when i try to do this i always receive this message: "this email address already is in use..."

Any idea how to solve this? I dont want to use another email address.

im not sure (i run trough text before one year or smt...) but i think u need to be premium to do that ...

I didn't think you had to be premium, but I don't know for sure, since I am premium and I've had no trouble creating alts through the SL site.

I do know this, though: on the affiliated promo sites, such as CSI, you CAN'T use an email address already in use to sign up. I tried that once and it was full of fail. Are you trying to get an alt through CSI or one of the other special sites, or are you going through the SL site?

There is no limit on alt accounts. there used to be a limit of 5. but no longer. make all you want. make 10,000,000 if you want and set them all loose camping and function as bots in a box to falsify traffic.

i do believe, that yes you have to be a premiom account to use the same email.

however, ann is correct in the fact that you cna make all the alts you wish providing you have the email accounts to cover them.

Thanks Puppet, well i remember that i tried outside of SL website and also in the same SL web and was the same thing, couldnt use the same email address.

@Ann: Yes, i know that people create army of alts to piss of people, in my case i just need open the famous ALT Bank - Your money in good hands.

I'm not premium. I also got the message about "this email address is already in use..." Someone mentioned that it was because I had used another viewer when creating an alt, (I have 2 others besides my main). This could be true since I remember making one through OnRez for the CSI part of SL. As for the other, I don't remember, but I could have made it through the Windlight viewer of the time (?).

Anyway, I had to use 3 different email addresses. I found out though, that once they are created, you can simply go into your account and change your email to what you like, (which is what I've done). If you can, try to keep an address just for Second Life related things - just makes it simpler. Also, some people say that Hotmail doesn't always work.

I have a friend who uses alts for Tiny Empires...one is my liege. I'd like to start off with one
with an asexual name so I can have more fun...a name that is obviously feminine is limiting.
Also if you're wearing a Grendel's avatar an asexual name looks better.

yes, like the handful of camping bots I found hiding behind a mall that I rent in, which I thought had great traffic.. turns out, those bots add up to about 10k per day..

I dropped a nice campfire beside them to give my landlord a friendly hello.

I have a premium account, but I created separate email accounts on gmail for my two alts and myself. I then set up email forwarding in the alt's email accounts to my account. I never go into the alts email accounts after I set them up and got them registered in SL. All their e-mail shows up in my gmail account. I do this just to keep the account separate. Don't know if this helps you.

I just set up an alt for a friend of mine who is not premium and used the same e-mail address as her main and I didn't receive this message. This was only a week ago....

I guess if it happens, it's an easy fix to set up a different e-mail account though, which I think has already been mentioned....

Um...I could be terribly mistaken, but didn't LL outlaw in world banks? If this is true, then someone may be scamming, posing as a bank be careful about letting anyone else keep your money because it doesn’t just up and walk away if it is in your own personal SL account...Just a thought, anyone else have any insight here? I could be totally wrong on this.

Guru, I think what Arkantos is talking about is creating an alt to act as his personal bank - to hold his money so it's not in his main's account. That was the impression I got, anyway.

I thought that you understood the old joke.
