Can't move objects on MY own land

All of a sudden, I can not move SOME, not all objects on my land. I have for SURE been able to move these objects before.

Ideas and suggestions appreciated . . .

If you do not have permission to modify objects owned by a different avatar you might not be able to move them. You can still return them but not move them. I would check and make sure that you are indeed the owner of the objects.

If you are not the owner it might might be the person that does own them revoked the modify permission without telling you

Also make sure the objects are not "locked"

Like I said above, I have moved these objects before and I am the owner of the objects. Thanks for the advice, never overlook the obvious!

if you have moved an object before you still could'ave locked it.. between the last move an' now and that might be how come you can't move'em.

I have noticed these objects are now locked but can not unlock them.

maybe you lost your hands and haven't noticed yet?

ahhh if you can't unlock them are you absolutely sure you haven't had a change of creator/owner bug happen?

I occasionally have the problem that something was set for sale as "original," totally unbeknownst to me, and someone came and bought the object but they left it there. So I can no longer move it.

I have also had the problem where an object was set as "share with group," and a resident took ownership of it, usually by accident.

I believe I once had the problem where I simply couldn't move some of my objects, and I could find no explanation for it. I relogged and I had the permission back.

i agree with Dekka, if you can't unlock'em are you sure you are still the owner?

does someone have mod rights on your object? could a friend of yours have "picked up" the object (thus transferring ownership to them) and then set the object back down an' locked'em?

of course then there's that apparent bug...

Snap had all these happen too, and god you feel such an idiot afterwards.

Try right-clicking and bringing up the edit menu, then clicking on the locked object *again* - hopefully this will let you go to the Object menu and uncheck the Locked parameter, and then you can move the object. (Took me the longest time to figure this out...)

Are you wearing the right group tag if they are group owned?

let's all think about this

These objects are so far HUGE things like houses. When they were placed, we have no idea what group tag we were wearing at the time. When we right click, edit, it does say it's group owned, but the group just says LOADING . . .

Now, I have a theory and a pretty smart girl I know in SL doesn't think this is the answer. We renamed a group to another name. I am thinking that the old group name may be the group that these objects belong to and that's why we can not move them.

Your active group is irrelevant when it comes to moving, or otherwise manipulating, group-deeded or group-set objects, just being in the group is enough.

There are very few situations where your active group will make a difference ("Buy for Group", ability to rez - if you're a group owner not even that matters).

You're either mixing up "set to group" with "group owned", or one of the two above isn't correct.

Who actually owns the prims? Do take the time to look who the Edit window says is the owner and don't confuse group set with group owned.

Unless you got LL to change the name of the group for you, that usually involves creating a new group, inviting everyone over and letting the old group expire.

If the prims are indeed group-owned and the original - owning - group was let to expire then the only option is to return them. If the next owner permission is transfer it'll return to the person who put it there originally, if it's no transfer then it'll just get deleted. Remember that next owner permissions will take effect as soon as you return.

I also agree the group tag when rezing is irrelevant.

Clarification:
Object properties:
Creator: Creator of object
Owner: Me
Group: Name of group with SET button greyed out

Permissions: You can not modify this object
I DO own the object, 100% sure

More clarification:
I guess I mean ROLES and not groups within the group that LL created.

So all this said, if I just return the object, will I get it back?

Yes, and thank you for your help. While it was a simple matter of unlocking the object, ONLY the owner can do that even if someone else has total rights to your objects.
