Rental Adventure

I rented a shop space some time ago in a high-camping zone. I paid 2000 for a month and didn’t manage to sell anything during the first 3-4 days.

After 4 days, they said they would move my shop to another place in the same sim. I said ok. I waited for a few days for this to happen, then finally i got my shop again but this time, in an even worse zone than before.. But ok.. the rental is 350 here, not 500 so we recalculated the number of days for rental and I continued to rent it. I was without a rental box for some time too. The owners partner gave me a few extra days for free because of this. In the meantime, they replaced the malls again.

There were many times I found few of my prims returned manually by the owners and I didn’t complain because they didn’t understand me. Recently they removed the camping area near my shop and blocked my shop with a big ad panel so I didn’t sell anything for 10-15 days.

They also nearly never responded to my IMs when I asked them about these.

Yesterday was my last renting day. I decided not to rent anymore.

Today I received an IM from owner (who can’t speak english but only german so was in german) that i need to pay one month of renting for the days I exceeded, which were the free days I was given for free. My prims were returned and i have been ejected from group. LOL

There is still "0 days remaining" which means i have some hours,.. but i was ejected from group anyway. Really good business tactic

What should I do?

Don't pay.

Simply don't pay the rent they are claiming you owe for the "free" days. Since they agreed to give you those days in exchange for the inconvenience you have not broken any ethical agreement as far as I can see. If they try to AR you the Lindens will just tell them that financial matters are between residents and they don't get involved--like they always do. They have a lot of nerve asking for money after ejecting you from the group. The owner sounds very disorganized.

I vote don't pay, too. Consider it an experience to learn from, and just do a little more homework before renting again. If you see somewhere you like, see what information you can dig up on the landlord/lady in forums, in-world, chat to current residents, etc, etc - reputation is king in SL. I hope you have better luck should you decide to rent again.

Don't pay them another Linden dollar. If they keep bugging you, mute them. Look for a new mall where the owners are organized and aren't rebuilding it every five days. Bonus points if they also speak the same language as their tenants.

Don't rent from Germans!

No seriously, I wouldn't rent anywhere where there might be communication problems....

good advice in this thread, don't pay a dime, and just be thankful thats all ya lost. Sorry to hear about your experience.

Yes, they are tottly disorganised, thats shure.
I recived 44 primes in lost and found even if i was renting for 50 prims. 6 was returned one by one because I "exceeded" prim count
They also banned my alt because of really nothing. Never responded one word about why I was banned from parcel even if I asked 4-5 times.
But doing "Big" business and don't have english speaking man? I can't get this.

Explain to them as politely as possible that they should have sexual intercourse with their grandfathers and that you "fart in their general direction". Then get on with your life safe in the knowledge that these grasping con artists have no hold over you.


Or tell them that you will be willing to pay if they can think of an actual word in the English language (must be in the Oxford Dictionary) that rhymes with "orange", then sit back and wait.

Don't name their names or group but tell us the sim and we'll work out who they are and avoid them in them future.

And don't pay them a cent!

tell them that their service is not worth 1 l$ and you want your money back! lol

(You could also hire me for first class German language swear word classes complete with pronunciation guide)

No, I was just joking. Really.

Find someone who can speak german and have them explain all this to the owner (and that you arn't paying as they were free days given to you by the partner for the reasons you explained to us)
