I read the tip of the week, and it told you how to turn off the typing animation and sound that goes with chat. I thought this was cool, gave it a try and liked it. The next time I logged in I had to set it again, logged out, and back in the next day, had to reset it again. So there is no way to retain these settings? So even though we got that nice tip, it is rather useless if I have to rest it every time I log in. Is there anyway to set it and not have it reset every time I log in?

I set mine that way as well, it stayed and even carried over to alts.

I like not having it as well.

How do you exit SL?

Manstan, do you exit SL using the X in the top right corner or do you exit normally using File/Quit or CTRL + Q? This may account for settings not being saved if you close with the first. ~B

Just curious: Do other Avies still respond with a glance at you when you disable this?
I have a natural apprehension about disabling and customizing things like this. It seems like it just injects confusion into the social interaction. Just my take: to each their own!
I also find the clickety-clack very useful. I'm often working on something, editing, etc., and otherwise wouldn't notice if someone walked up to talk to me. I'm a big softie, so I would feel terrible if someone thought I was ignoring them. (Mot to mention if I missed a rental customer).
I just turn the UI slider down so that it isn't overpowering.

As I turned mine off and it stayed off, I have a theory as to why it doesn't stay off for some. I theorise that the PlayTypingAnimation stays off on PRE-Voice versions. For those of us still avoiding taking the upgrade, or who have moved on to using 3rd party viewers. Those that are using the newest and "best" update (which is the Voice update. I'm not blaming Voice, just the update with it.) have to continually turn it back off. Can those that are having to keep turning it off verify? Are you using the new Voice update? Are there any for whom it stays off that ARE using the Voice update? ~Jessy

Although thinking about it, I'm using the Nicholaz client so it might be different on the official one. In which case, this is a fairly useless post.
