LM's - Some Blue, Some Red

OK NOW I am freaking out. The Knowledge base says LM tacks can be either red or "mauve". Mine are either red or blue. NOT "mauve". And I asked 3 other people, and 2 say mauve and one says hers are blue. WTF?

Blue. They can call it mauve all they want, but it's blue.

But the KB article is out of date. As I understand it, while you still get red or blue tacks, the colors don't actually reflect what they're supposed to. They're just more or less at random.

OP, red and mauve (it's actually more of a salmon pink than a mauve) are what they look like using the old, classic viewer skin. Blue and red are what they look like in the newer skins. Nothing to worry about

Hmmm. OK. Mine have been blue for two years, through several upgrades, RC's and third party viewers.

BTW, the JIRA says this is a "dead" feature, which is good, because I'm still getting red ones and blue ones, and it seems to bear no relationship to whether I have visited the site or not. I recently got 2 LMs from the same parcel, one red and one blue, and gave them both to somebody else. One of hers is red and one's blue, too, even though she has never been there.

As far as I'm aware, bright primary red and blue as colours for LMs only came into being with the introduction of the silvery-blue 'Dazzle' skin, which according to the official blog, was early February 2008:
