I spend a lot of time working on my projects at the Linden owned public sandboxes , mainly because i like to interact with people who come to see what I am working on, sometimes they ask for a LM to my shop which is nice too.
Of Course, i get griefed, most things are pretty easy to deal with, giant body parts that want to stick to your head you can fly to no script land and they get stuck, cadgers don't work anymore and i havnt been successfully orbited in forever :) but somethings still vex me and i don't know how to mute, or get the owners info for an AR.

here are some examples maybe someone has some advice on them.

signs that suddenly appear over my head, usually with some sort of unpleasant picture or word, they seem to be a single large particle because i can not edit them so i assume its not a prim and so i don't know how to tell who is doing it to me.

objects that spam in chat, unless i can spot it and click on the mute option i dont know how to mute object i cant physically locate

and the worst annoyance for last...
objects that spam me with menu pop ups asking me if i want a copy of some sort of money orb or a LM to sandbox France, goodness knows what... i spent the better part of a day last month being chased out of 7 different sandboxes by that sandbox France LM giver... grrrrrrrrrrr.

There is a prim there somewhere, probably a very small transparent one, perhaps it's even scripted to hide itself close enough to your avatar that you can't easily find it. but particles can't live without prims.

In the chat window, use the speakers button (with the >>> label). That will show the object for a few moments, long enough to mute. It gets harder if the object uses IM :/

Been lucky enough to avoid this particular nasty so far! Some dialogs have mute buttons now, not this one I guess? :( Any owner listed in the dialogs that you might grab (I know that one isn't reliably filled in)?

I tend to use the Ivory Tower sandbox, never very crowded but I still use a free builders skybox which I put up to 200 metres and only rez the floor. If you want a copy of the skybox send me an IM and I will send you the LM when I get in world.

a private or out of the way sandbox is always an option on those extra bad days, but i really prefer to be out in the "wild west" when I'm working, besides the occasional annoyance i get a chance to show off my projects to people who are interested, it's fun watching people wander around on my ships trying stuff out :)

thanks for the offer of the builders skybox, i have one built into my HUD weapon thingy already

Open the communication tab for local chat - on the upper right is a << - this will show you people or objects in the area that are actively sending a message - click on the non-avi looking names (and usually they are a lighter color) and MUTE. Viola - all gone :D

And don't forget to AR some of the really offensive ones!

I abandoned the Linden owned sandboxes after finding them to either be packed to the rim with prims or having to deal with scripted followers that shoved me around just as I rezzed. I miss them, however.

When I need to use a public sandbox, I put my open sky platform up high, like 2000 metres. It's got a safety fence round it! I've never been troubled up that high.

Thats what I do too! Very very seldom has anyone stopped by.

I also rez a cube & sit on it. That way if the visitor is standing on the platform & gets annoying, I delete the platform, they drop. End of problem. :)
