Hi folks, I am looking for someone to help me set up WinAmp for DJing with voice over the stream. I am using Vista. If you can help me at all, I'd be forever beholden :) Thanks!

I use the Shoutcast plugin. You can find hosting services that you can stream up to and get a certain number of allowed connections.... Often in the hundreds. (^_^)

But... If you have the bandwidth, you can stream from home using the Shoutcast server application. You just set the plugin to stream to LocalHost and just be mindful of your maximum connections and bitrate and how it all relates to how much bandwidth is available to you. (^_^)y

once youhave added the shoutcast plugin you can voice using winamp... but it only works for about 1/2 those who try... i dont knwo why but for many it jus crashes winamp.

In short press CTRL P then click on the shoutcast plug in... connect to the steam then click on the input tab. Change the input from inamp to soundcard device. This should allow you to voic over the stream... change back to the winamp input to play music again.

Like i said this crashes many peopel's systems so it is not foolproof.... but then thats what happens with using a free item :)

Alternatively nicecast is only $40US and voices much better withthe options offade ins and outs etc.

you must have shoutcast set to soundcard input. do not go between win amp and soundcard (it will crash it)

you then need to have in your sound card, 'Stereo mix' or 'what you hear' or some other box name ticked in the soundcard control (the little speaker icon in pre Vista (I have no clue what vista is set up like) )

then its a lot of playing with the music and mic levels in both the soundcard and shoutcast plug in. some cards have a lot of issue working right some do it first try. ***NOTE: turn system sounds off! or they will go as well window open sound clicks etc.

when it works and is set uop you use the PUSH TO TALK button in the Shoutcast plug in it lowers the music level and raises the mic up full (this is where you have to play with levels.)

The condition you describe has nothing to do with winamp, it is a problem with cheap soundcards.

You need to have a soundcard that supports full-duplex audio; playback and recording at the same time.

Most soundcards integrated into the computer's motherboard do NOT support full duplex.

I use winamp all the time, using soundcard input. Just have to make sure the mixer settings are correct.

Yeah I'm having this problem as well :-(

Wouldn't like to play in soundcard mode...that feels awkward....

Hoping for some other solution.
