Friends Online even more unreliable than usual?

I thought I was accustomed to the vagaries of Friends Online - until today.

Since installing the latest viewer, all my friends inworld have been permanently renamed 'waiting', and their given status appears to bear little relation to whether they're actually online or not.

Off-world, curiouser and curiouser - I've logged into FO on two separate occasions today, only to find that my alts are hanging out in SL without my knowledge.

Each time I checked, it was a different alt! Just wait 'til I catch them, I'll give them a piece of my mind... :D

I was about to post some similar. I use the website to see who's online. Lately it's super wacked! I can reload it a variety of ways and get different results each time. It's like a who's online slot machine lol. People that haven't been online for hours sometimes appear to be still online. Go figure. I'd rather have it off than have it this borked.

LL, are you paying attention?

I think this whole new client is junk so far. I hate the new interface.

Since I use the Nicholaz viewer, I'm still using the old 1.18.5.3 client so my Friends list inworld is working fine - though I did have a day last week where absolutely none of my groups would show.

The Friends Online website being screwed up is driving me crazy though. I sat there for a few minutes today, continually hitting refresh, just to review the variations it was showing - and yes it was a completely different combination every time. It would be funny if it wasn't pathetic.

I haven't had a working friends list for a? couple of weeks,
not that I really keep one,
unless I'm on the Nicholaz viewer.

Oh how I'd love Nicholaz to do one for Mac users! I don't suppose there's a way to download a previous version once LL have put up the latest one, is there?

Yes, this has been a major problem in the 1.19 release candidates - see http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-4570

I was somewhat surprised for 1.19 to go into production with this bug still present, and even more surprised that LL should be making 1.19 mandatory before fixing this bug!

Yes, you can re-download an older version - at least you can still get to the 1.18.5.3 version. Since it is an older version and I'm pretty sure the update software will not let you back-level it, you will first have to completely uninstall your 1.19 version and then install the older one. And in order to use the older version, you have to use Nicholaz or some other 3rd party that will override/bypass that version check SL is doing.

The link to the download is:

On second thought, you might be able to get around deleting your 1.19 install by installing the older version in a completely new directory - like the Release Candidate and Windlight versions do.

All the 1.19.0 viewers (RC, release, WindLight First Look, and Dazzle First Look -- yes, I know that some of those no longer work) appear to have a bug in the Friends List handling. After a fresh install or a cache clear, your friends' names will never appear on the first login. To get them to appear, you have to log in long enough for all the information to download, then relog. Also, any new friends you make won't appear correctly in the list until the next time you log in.

The 1.19.1 RC appears to have fixed this bug. If there is a fix, we can also hope that it will show up in 1.19.0.6.

The thing is "usual" is pretty bad by itself.

Referring to the in-world display (not the web site)... my Friends List has been messed up like this for at least a week. Occasionally it works normally, but most of the time it is just a long list of ";(waiting)..." for the last week or two.
