Hi guys,
First post here...so bare with me if its already covered somehwere I cant find.
A friend of mine in SL appears to be the victim of a scam..and I'd like some advice on what she should do..
The story, she met a guy and she was given a new piece of female anatomy....
Some time later.... it asked to be paid, and without thinking she clicked yes....... it appears to have cleared all her L$ is 3 seperate transactions!... a bit over L$2000
Now I suggested she should report it to LL, - we know the name the L$ were sent to.
But has anyone got any other suggestions that might help her... other than beware of men bareing free genitalia? ( and read before you click)
Thanks for your help Mya...

Thanks for your help Mya... Welcome to the forums, Mya! I'm so sorry to hear what happened. Definitely report the incident to LL (other posters will likely have more detailed help on how to do this)....but above all, yes, be VERY, VERY careful what you click on in those drop down menus.

Sorry to hear about this...
RULE OF THUMB IN SL:
NEVER grant permission to ANYONE or ANYTHING that asks for payment, unless you are ABSOLUTELY sure.
Otherwise, this is what happens.

Definitely report it, although LL will probably treat it as a resident to resident issue and won't get involved. but maybe this person will get AR's from multiple people and something will be done.

Sort of on-topic:
Also beware of clicking your own generosity button.
A group message: [2008/01/23 14:14] L* C*: Omg can someone please let me borrow 500L until 6pm slt, my daughter is getting married in 40 minutes and i need to finish paying her wedding planner or the wedding will be canceled and i can pay the money back as soon as my fiance logs on if someone could please help=)
Another group message: [2008/01/26 14:30] L* C*: Omg can someone please let me borrow 500L, my daughter is getting married in 20 minutes and if she doesn't get this to finish paying her wedding planner they will cancel her wedding i will pay this back as soon as my fiance logs on which should be no later then 6pm slt please help=)
Depressing isn't it? Either L* C* is a scammer or her daughter really needs to settle down.

From: Mya Thor ....Some time later.... it asked to be paid, and without thinking she clicked yes....... **blinks** You pretty much hit it on the head in your last sentence though. Read before clicking. It's generally a good thing not just to avoid objects that ask for debit permission which should be obvious as it comes in a yellow box instead of a blue one with lots of warning not to say yes unless one trusts the source object, but even the blue ones as you may end getting tp'd somewhere you'd rather not be etc.

Seems this has been answered well enough I can justify a de-rail. All I know is that when my genitals start demanding cash it is time for me to put the bottle down and go to bed!

Definitely submit an AR but unfortunately the person has probably already dumped that av for another one and is already onto their next victim.
