OK, this is embarassing. I am going mad here.

I can't log into SL - coz apparently I am still logged in!

I crashed, and closed SL - since then I am stuck.

I can log in fine with my alt - and he can go and push the real me around a bit - yes, Elgyfu really is in world, standing there like a big stupid lemon.

So how on earth do I log her out so I can log in properly and continue the work I was in the middle of doing?

I am at a loss here, never seen this issue before - it has now been over an hour - I went and had a bath on the theory I would 'time out' after a while.

I throw myself at the mercy of your laughter, and please, please, does anyone know how to rescue myself? hehe

I have tried the 'obvious' like changing my arrival point from Home to 'last location', I have tried rebooting my PC and reloading SL.

Now I am just sitting here feeling sorry for myself. I was in the middle of a creative burst and this is just beyond frustrating. I can't even call up concierge help as I need to be in-world on Elgyfu to do that.

The simulator apparently keeps you in-world for some time. I have seen it for a few minutes, but an hour sounds too long.

Have you tried logging on in another region (specifying the logon position explicitly)?

A Linden could boot you, using God mode. You can definitely start Concierge chat from the support panel. This is independent from being logged on in-world.

Good luck!

geez, I've never seen it last THAT long!

Usually, the avatar will hang around for a minute or so and then go "offline".

You may want to try contacting live help.

I remember the good ole' days when you could contact live help and a LInden would show up within a few minutes in world..of course in those days (summer of 2006) there were only 10,000 people in world and it was easier to cover help requests)

My alt managed to find a real, live, helpful Linden! Wow. She explained the new help process - been a long time since I tried that.

I can log into the website as the real me (hurrah) so now just waiting for live help to, erm, come to life.

*sigh* I think I broke Second Life

I had this problem about 6 weeks ago, and Leo Linden was out in 1 minute to restart the sim. That freed the poor stranded avatar.

Did you have your alt send an IM to Elgyfu? In theory that forces the system to recognize your offline status. I'm not sure if it works, but it will only take a minute to try. :)

What kind of rain dance has your alt been doing to get him over so quickly?

It works...I often do that -- err -- send an IM to myself from an alt account :)

Good one! hehe

This was just a stranger innocently flying through my sim. I logged into concierge live chat, got Leo, and he just came right in-world and fixed it.

A few days ago I had a different problem (ghost prims) in a different sim, and Belinda Linden restarted the sim just as fast. (She didn't come in world, that I saw).

If the OP is not concierge level, he or she can talk to the land owner, who hopefully is.

Sometimes someone sending you an IM imn world will 'release' your trapped avi. I can't get in right now, but I've asked someone to send one.
Hope it helps:)

Crashed.

Took a while to log back in.

Could see nothing but water. No HUDS, nothing.

Crashed again.

Still waiting for login again.

I think you can send yourself a knockout IM from outworld using zonkster.
