Abuse Unreportable!!

This morning at about 6:45 am EDT, and continuing until now (8:11 am), the area where my land is located, Hunter's Quay, Huntsbore (90, 155, 33), is being subjected to a heavy rain of large "STOP RACISM" signs. I took a snapshot and attempt an abuse report, but the report would not be accepted because I did not identify the abuser.

Of course I have no idea who's resposible for the vandalism, or why it is occurring. I feel there should be a way to report an attack like this when the perpetrator is unknown. Can anyone help?

BTW, at Ivory Tower of Prims and another area I visited, the signs are not appearing. The "rain" does extend beyond my own land, and when I flew I didn't reach the end of it.

Can you edit one of the objects and see the name of the owner?

Right Click a sign. Choose MORE on the pie menu until you see REPORT ABUSE. Click that to open an Abuse Report window. The name of the creator as well as the sim location and object will already be entered for you. Just fill out the rest and send.

Somebody with parcel perms for the Hunter's Quay Building group could actually return or delete the prim that's spewing all those "Stop Racism" particles... but should AR it a few times first, to get the creator permabanned. (I already did, but others should, too.) The object itself is at Huntsbore 60, 192, 94, by the way... griefer is "[name elided per forum rules]" -- no payment info, born yesterday.

Also, you can always submit a abuse report with Phillip Linden's name if you are unable to get the name of the problem maker. When you do that, make sure you give *lots* of detail so they can narrow it down in the logs.

If it's any use, I just AR'd if for you as well...

If you go right into the particles, you will see a spinning cube in theair. Thats the emitter. If you rickght click and edit that you will see the creator/owner (and it only 1 day old)

Thank you all for your great help. I'm following up on everything you've suggested.

I'm a relative newcomer, but I can't help thinking that letting unlimited numbers of people enter SL free makes this kind of attack and abuse all too easy. I'm sure there must have been a long debate about this, but my short experience has taught me that SL would be better off if it did not give totally free and unscreened Basic memberships.

I don't suppose there's any way for the Lindens to tell whether an abuser is returning with a new account under a different name. At least an expense of $10 or so to join might discourage some griefers from making raids.

Things you can do to make the emitter easier to find:
1) Hide particles.
2) Turn on beacons for particles.
3) Highlight transparent (in case the emitter is partially or completely transparent).

That happened to me in the middle of the night too. Same signs flying across my land. The signs were coming from the neighbors land so I just zoomed over and saw the bright red box it was coming from. Don't remember if it was transparent or not. The guys name started with a T and I think he had just joined sl only a day or two before. That is all that I remember about the guy though. Brain dead at 4am sl time after being up all night having fun.

Up until 6/6/6 (aka hellday), that was pretty much exactly how it worked - each additional account required a verified email and 10 usd. There wasn't any discussion before or after teh event. None that influenced LL's decision anyway.



I'm not sure they could do that without tripping some legal loophole which would get them in trouble. It would have to be all avatars or none, I think.
