this i'm sure is redundant and i should have read through everything before posting... but i have been on sl for 3 months consecutively and was a prior resident like 2 or so years ago maybe. i cannot for the life of me find places to meet people and hang out. and i mean people not looking for strictly sexual encounters. i have a great relationship in RL and am not looking for a relationship in SL or really anything strictly sexual, and i say this being that 80% of the places i find are strictly sexual in nature. the rest are boring or you really need to have an understanding of the lifestyle or money to provide you with shelter and clothing appropriate of the area. i have read previous posts and tried viewing the entire map zoomed out and searching for heavily populated areas for at least an hour. and even before that viewing profiles for entertaining places. but alas i have found none. i am a 22/f and am very open minded so i'm up for whatever, i just want to be able to find populated areas to meet new people. please help...

80% of the places i find are strictly sexual in nature. stop looking on zindra ![]() tried viewing the entire map zoomed out and searching for heavily populated areas for at least an hour. totally wrong approach, THAT will only get you to skyboxes full of bots over furniture shops. i am a 22/f and am very open minded so i'm up for whatever, i just want to be able to find populated areas to meet new people. please help... Whatever you do, don't put that in your profile or you'll be back to "strictly sexual". here's a few hints: - the showcase. (Link is on top of this page) - SL blogs (no, not the ones run by linden labs) - go on hunts (think "themed scavenger hunts" that will get you lots of rather nice free things, lots of landmarks, and maybe some new friends). the central starting point can be http://slhunts.wordpress.com/. |

Thanks for the link Daniel
I've found lots of interesting and famous places in my first few weeks in world just by using the search and met lots of good people to hang out with (not all of them after that one thing!) |

alana, (or kayla?), look up a current thread called something like "non voice places." It lists several places that are geared toward socialising and having fun, without voice. They are not pickup joints either.
The thread should currently be on one of the first few pages of this forum. _____________________

this i'm sure is redundant and i should have read through everything before posting... SL is a dynamic world. If you are looking for places today with a list from 2 months ago, that list will be outdated. So don't worry about it. We all like to hear of new places coming up or that someone has found recently and it is good to know which ones are no longer there. |

Look for live music sims too. There are some great performances out there and they draw people to them.

If you are interested at all in art, museums, education, and that sort of thing, you should keep an eye Not Possible IRL, a blog that features, among much else, some of the most interesting and fantastic sims in SL. These aren't necessarily places for socializing, but they ARE magnificent examples of the kind of thing that SL is, at its best, capable of nurturing.
http://npirl.blogspot.com/ There's also an associated in-world group you can join. _____________________

Yes. Right now they are having (I think it's still going on) an art exhibition/auction. You can wander around it for free, and see all sorts of interactive and/or 3d and/or animated art there. They also have functions and point up all sorts of interesting things in SL.
Yes this was kind of a 'me too' post. _____________________

I've met some very cool people at live music events. Once you find a genre / place / singer you like, join their group and you will get notices about their doings.

I do the Treasure Quest hunts (great folks, challenging clues, and great prizes/finds) that get me off my surf sims and out of the surf community...not that I don't love the surf community but sometimes it's nice to get out. I also search for things that I'm interested in or sometimes just off the wall stuff. There is no doubt that there are a ton of sex places for but for every sex place there are a handful of places you can enjoy w/out the sex element. Bplaces is a great way to get started. I'd recommend the Showcase but I never see anyone at those but I have seen some great builds thru that. Live music and events like art shows are great too
