Odd problem, we're at a loss to explain it....

We can't figure out whats going on so I'm pitching the issue here to see if anyone else has experienced this issue.
I'm manager on a sim and one of our tenants is having an issue, every now and then the house their in will shift for no reason, sometimes it will shift while we're watching it. The odd thing is that this the only parcel on this sim having this issue.
I've seen evidence of this happening myself, one day everything is perfectly aligned and I was called back today and linked sets have shifted randomly (happening with parts of the entire building).
Anyone ever see this happen before?

ya i've seen it in a homestead sim where the build was in a corner of the sim..
it had terrible prim drift.. i never had any problems with anything i built there..it seemed it was only this certain prefab club.. so whether it was the club or its location in that sim i don't know..
i just know it was always shifting linksets ..

First thing I would check is if there were any scripts in the build link sets.

i just know it was always shifting linksets .. Oddly enough this particular build is on a corner lot, I've checked some of the sets that moved and i don't see any scripts inside. This is the third time this has happened to this particular tenant. Now the really odd thing is that I've got a sky box 500m over her land and that's fine, it hasn't shifted at all, the only times I've ever read about involving prim drift have been in the air.

i've never seen it myself anywhere but the ground..
one thing i used to notice even with a regular sized prim on the mini map..no matter what size you made the prim it kept it's full dimensions on the mini map..
it's just a guess but maybe it's too close to the corner and the true size of a prim or prims in a link set are getting pushed back into the sim.
i noticed the other night when i had dropped a mall and club combo in a sim and moved it to the outer edge of the sim ..it must have went over some and stopped part of the build from going over the edge or drew it back into the sim..it was still holding the rezzor scripts so that may have been why in that case..
it's the only two times i have ever seen prim drift myself..the second was like 2000 meters up now that i remember correctly

no locking does not prevent the object from moving, it only prevents prims inside the object to be modified (the locked ones), for e.g. texture, or size etc. This is handy for multiuser projects, where multiple people are building on the same object, and you want to protect some parts of the build, from being modifyable (a linked prim e.g)

Anyone ever see this happen before? is the house less that 10 meters from the border? If so, there is most likely a prim that has been really twisted inside, and the border is trying to cache it for the next sim (even if there isn't one). When that fails, it tried to kick it out of the cache space.

It's a rift in the space time continuum. See Torchwood.

At my video display vendor, the back wall did that, and the floor separated too.
