<rant>

For crying out loud! What is this! Some new year resolution? Pee off as many SL residents as you can? WTF is going on LL! Every day... EVERY DAY there are issues! Some of us have spent thousands of REAL dollars since we have been here, and what do we get in return? Failed logins... no rezzing... no money... no profiles... no groups... no TPs!

It's about time you gave us the service we deserve! After all... without us, there would be no you!

</rant>

Sorry...

Be serious. People *need* these things or there would be nothing to compain about and life would be very dull.

in all fairness, when they rolled out that smashing new web page and the numbers increased over the holidays that when they started having some major everyday issues... so I blame it on the new webpage..... /me coughs

I'm sure they never anticipated 80k people ramming heads to log.. so I suppose we should cut them some slack over this right??

Im not so much angry over the outages and what not as I am the plans they have to merge the teen grid... even the XstreetSL merger dont bother me as much....

and yeah, I will say if the teen grid is merged and there are no real way to keep them little whipper snappers off my land........ I will have to really rethink having land..... my 400.00 a month I am sure is just a drop in the bucket and wont be missed, but if enough people like minded..... well

Some of you may recall that I was doing some research and development in regard to running some "SL for Beginners" workshops with an eye to using SL to deliver online training, such as immersive language studies.

My final recommendation to the College was to NOT invest heavily into this venture, almost entirely because:

a) constant issues with lag, login restrictions, endless rez-time that only seems to be getting worse. I can't even imagine trying to bring any group larger than a dozen or so into any one spot on a regular basis.
b) unsuitable, oftentimes embarrassing behaviour on the part of other residents. Fun, certainly, but not in any professional setting. And now they want to let the kids in?
c) high hardware demands for CPU and video card.

I tried to contact Pathfinder Linden by email in regard to our intentions but received no reply.
LL is actively pursuing educational institutions to set up shop on the grid. In the current environment, that just isn't going to happen.

We are now MAYBE considering an online presence, such as a reproduction of our main campus strictly for marketing purposes.
Bringing actual paying participants inworld is, for now, against my better judgement.

One of the few friends I've mentioned SL to has had a similar exoerience. She is in the Pharmaceutical Industry, and manages people in the UK as well as here. She thought SL might be a fun alternative to the boring teleconferences she has to have at odd hours as well as maybe some fun "team building" activities. She pretty much came to the same conclusions.

No. They have been through this before. You can't make improvements aimed at bringing in new customers and not expect new customers.

My RL persona's job is to listen to and try to resolve impossible problems from students, staff, and suppliers for a university, my hands tied with beaurocracy, not to mention the managment team of Stalin and Vader. It really does get to you after a while It is part of the reason people scarcely see me in world. I get so shell shocked I don't want to deal with anyone, not even virtually.

So I try not to complain as a customer anymore. This is just one of the periods when things get wonky. It gets better eventually. Should things get bad enough I could always go back to -- oh I don't know, reading, painting, listening to great music, but so far that hasn't happened.

I am in world now and I'm having no problems working in my garden and lowering my BP.
