My husband and I are going to be buying a 1/4 sim together, as we both have stores and wish to have them on that parcel. Plus, it's less expensive for us in RL to have him take on the tier, and I just give him half and tier myself down. If he buys it in his name, and then divides it in half, will that other half be in my control, if he donates with deed to my group? Will I have full rights to that land in that case, since I am owner of the group?

Also, should we expect a problem if I transfer a large number of lindens (around L80,000) to him so he can make the purchase? I would think that wouldn't present any flags for LL since he'll be buying land right after, but I just want to make sure we don't end up with suspended accounts or something.

Thanks for any help!

Yes and Yes to the first 2 questions, and No to the last. L$80,000 isn't a whole lot, and will be fine with LL.

And congrats on the quitting smoking! Woot!

If you are concerned re the L$ transfer you could always have a quick chat with Support and put your mind at rest. I'd have thought a single transfer when you both have the same household details would be ok but better safe than sorry and having to sort out stuff with possible account suspension etc.

The rest of your question = yes theoretically but it depends how abilities have been apportioned within your group. Why do you want it split in half tho? Don't understand.

Congrats on becoming a non-smoker!

If he deeds half the land to the group of which you are owner, then you will have all controls. Even if it was a group you were not the owner of, he could create a role for you that could grant those controls.

Transfering that amount of lindens in a single transfer will not be a problem.

Edit: Kudos to the cat-like typing reflexes of my peers. :)

She and her husband have separate shops. I'm assuming they'll want to name each parcel after its shop?

Exactly! And we each have groups for our shops. I want my land set to my group, that way group members can rez objects, which I don't generally allow for non-group members. Plus, he sometimes has different tastes in music, etc, and I like to be able to have the music playing that I like when I'm working.

Well.....plus.....it keeps me feeling independent, if you know what I mean. I was used t owning my own land, even though it was right next to his. I love him dearly, anhd he's my partner on SL as well as my RL man, but I like a bit of my own control. ;)

Thanks to all for your help and for the congrats on the not smoking! It's hasn't been easy but HAS been easier than I thought it would be! And quitting is freeing up some money, so now I can tier up! :)

I actually have one more quick question. If my husband buys the 1/4 sim, quickly subdivides it then "sells" me half, would that be enough time to cause an increase in his tier? I'm sure it would be, even though it would only be about a minute of time. We're looking at different ways of doing this so that our tier doesn't get too out of hand.

Yes, it will increase his tier. It's pretty unavoidable. But, here's the question: he's going to pay the tier anyway, right? He's going to deed to your group, and give a tier donation along with the deed? He's going to pay that tier no matter what...

If he owns it for even one second you get charged that tier level for the whole billing cycle.

That's right! Crap! I forgot about that. It's okay, though, actually, since we lost the land we originally wanted to buy since someone bought it when we had to hop offline for an hour. We're now going to buy 4 4096 plots that we found on one of the new sims. The price isn't bad and it's a pretty good place so far, or looks to be. Hopefully it will stay that way. (and it's cheaper than the 16384 we were going to buy, and THAT was a good price-one of Sarah Nerd's plots). We're just buying individually and with group bonus, we'll make out pretty well.

Thanks everyone for answering my inane questions!

Is it Friday yet? (I don't wanna go to work.....wanna buy my land and get it up and running-damn RL!) Anyway, off to buy the land now, then will have to leave it until we can get back to it later today.

That's what I get for posting when caffeine deficient ... thanks Oryx.
