I keeping getting these IM's with only ^^ what does that mean? How does one respond to this? I have used chat and IM for a long time, but i have to confess this is a new one to me! Help!

o.0 Nah, ACK is "acknowledge", short for "I read and understood what you wrote and have nothing of substance to say here." When ^^ gets used as a response to things like "we'll have to go out next week instead, there was a death in the family", it's definitely lost any historical meaning it may have had.
