I have just restarted the game and once again have the infuriating problem of not being able to buy linden until 30 days are up :/ I just want a couple of outfits and a decent skin so I tried a couple of third party sites, which said I was an untrustworth avatar, my guess is too young. Eventually I ended up here sadly: www.2lifelinden.com/Which is a rip off site so don't go yourself, the prices should have given that away . Its a gameim site if your wondering, who will ask for your password and pin in live chat, really who is that stupid? I'll not get the money back as I went through paypal but meh, I might inform the fraud people at visa anyway just to cause them some hassle and force them to get a new domain name. So once again I am seeking some advice on how I can get some money to buy something, I did pick a premium account but nothings come through yet. It just seems a lot of hoops to spend a little bit of money to get a skin. Any suggestions of decent sites I can try?

You can safely buy L$ through a reputable site that uses LL's Risk API, such as http://xstreetsl.com/I like XStreet because you can use PayPal's Mass Pay feature to transfer $ to them with very low fees. You'll need a verified business account on PayPay to use Mass Pay, though. You don't have to wait the full 30 days to buy L$ direct from LL...your limits will be raised within a few days, and fully lifted after the 30 days.

http://www.xstreetsl.com/ is probably the most commonly used site outside of LL itself. It just changed its name from slexchange yesterday. *shakes fist at Lindal for typing faster.

Why would you have to wait 30 days? Even if you bought an annual membership, the limits would increase sufficiently to allow L$ purchasing after 48 hours. http://www.secondlife.com/currency/describe-limits.php

Possibly, I have no idea, as I actually left the game last year because my account was never updated correctly and thus even after 30 days I couldn't purchase anything above basic amounts, which meant my dreams and planning in owning a shop were dashed . Well in truth I left because tech support somehow tried to blame me for their mistakes but anyway. Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately xstreetsl.com needs 7 day old avatars before I can deposit money to buy any linden, I wonder if this counts the 2 days of processing time from paypal?
Hmm any other sites out there with a good history?

Most other sites run the risk of selling you Lindens obtained illegally, and could potentially cause LL to suspend your account.

Meh, just because they say they are, doesn't make it true. The sites shown here have to use the Risk API to be listed: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/L$_Marketplace

how much lindens were you trying to buy? Yes the company behind them are often reported to try and rip people off, I didn't realise it was that company, Gamein if you google them you'll find them reviewed often enough. It was only a small amount at first for skins and things. Thanks, I need to be careful but i'll take a look

(Interesting; no doubt most people who saw the old name made false assumptions about the site's content. (Must have been tough to come up with a new name that was available, given how many people have SL-related site names already...) in re the OP---maybe it's just that it's late, but I'm still not understanding the '30 days' restriction. *goes back to re-read the thread* .....so it's about an old billing dispute, I guess. Hmn.

Wow...just learned from this thread that SL Exchange changed its name!
Still the same great place.
And just to chime in and echo:
I've always bought Lindens there. And have never had a problem with money transactions or purchases.
Highly recommended.

You should be able to buy a minimum of $10US without any limits, daily for a couple of days. *confused*

Also, if the OP bought a quarterly or yearly Premium membership, that would knock it down to $2.50 or $0, respectively. It sounds like there's a different issue, tied to a prior account though.

Gosh, I guess I'm officially "old"...lol. I just know that I didn't have any difficulties getting money after the first couple of days.

Let me throw something else out here.
You should be able to buy 10US$ worth of lindens at first and the limit ramps up quickly over time. However, the limits will not increase until you make your first purchase. Your account can be over a year old but you will still have the 10US$ daily limit if you have never bought L$ from Linden Lab.

It sounds like there's a different issue, tied to a prior account though. Its not so much an issue now, just where my uncertainty comes from on the actual system. I did buy the quarterly so I didn’t have much to play with. Even back then I didn't kick up a fuss, I just decided from a business point of view, I could not deal in large sums of money with a platform or system that was unreliable or unresponsive to processing it. From: Yosef Okelly Let me throw something else out here.

Thanks for the advice but I know all that from experience, although in my case its $2.50 having a quarterly sub. I went through many, many tickets. Were going back a bit, last year I was wanting to invest a few thousand pounds into SL but they never managed to start my account clock as you describe. I bought a premium subscription, traded on lindenx and developed my first plot of land but couldn’t go any bigger because they’d made an error in my account on its creation and hadn’t started the timer you mention. Although I was grudgingly willing to wait again, I was just annoyed that some how the tech support made this out to be my fault, even though it was there system at fault, not updating correctly. What really annoyed me though, is that on closing my account I was still billed for the subscription two months afterwards, despite it being canceled and again I was told to be at fault, for not having closed it. As far as I can see it was created incorrectly and thus wasn’t linked properly or some such. Subsequently I told them to physically lock the account and ban my old credit card from their system.
