Once you've rented a store or kiosk, how do you place objects in it? I've rented a kiosk but it tell me that it I cannot create objects when I try to drag the object in.

Sometimes you need to join a particular group to have rez rights.

I take it the "invites" are not necessarily instantaneous? Maybe I have to wait for the owner to get around to inviting me?

I recommend you IM the owner of the info box (usually near the ceiling) which appeared when you paid your rent. Ask him or her if you need to join a group and if so for an invitation.

Yes, that an you can also see who the group is by going to ABOUT LAND. Under the group, you can seek a manager or owner title to ask for an invite to your new location.
