I have been in and out of my shop today, more than usual, because I'm getting ready to do a building project.
On two different visits, I saw people typing SLURLS for other stores in open chat. Their chat was blue, as if it were a HUD or something? My first assumption of course was that they were spamming business for other shops. But I got thinking about it and now I wonder. Is it possible that they were with others, using a shopping HUD of some sort? Like when the trip is ready to move on, someone clicks on where to go next? Any direction would be appreciated before I go waving around a banhammer.
Another thing I noticed was a few avs that basically were there for hours, standing in one spot. I know sometimes people go afk, or are in IM chatting away and such, but two of them were there for almost FOUR hours, when I went back the last time they were gone, but I'm curious about it.
Third thing (last, I promise *smile*) is that when I right click on one of my sale boxes and look at things in the 'edit' menu, everything in the box shows up as no copy/no mod/no transfer. When I just click on the box (as if to buy), the items show as no transfer (which is correct). I got on an alt and tried it, same thing. I checked my freebie (my alt has no money lol), in the edit it says no permissions, on buy it says no transfer. I 'bought' the freebie, looked at it in my inventory and the stuff was correct. Why is it that when I right click on the box and look at the stuff inside it shows it with no perms?
This is what happens when I hang around in my store! LOL

If you type a slurl to chat, you can use that to tp. I frequently do it. I'll get a slurl off another website, paste it to chat, and off I go. And, um, I stood the other night for three hours talking to someone in IM. We never moved. The last....I'm too tired to get my brain around right now.

Oh, and further, depending on the viewer you're using, other people's chat can show up as a different color. I think.

Third, that's how it works, say you have one item copy/ mod/no transfer, but in that item you have a script no copy/ mod/no transfer and the texture is copy/ no mod/no transfer then all the no's will show.

agrees on the blue slurls in chat.
For the object contents, edit the box, ignore the permissions on the items as they show in that window, but then right click on individual items and select properties. That should show you the proper permissions for the object. (I always check permissions this way when I am shopping.)

When i look at my items inside the vendor.. they are full perm for me... i have to open the preferences of every item to see the permitions for others . Except there is a no modi script in it.. then it shows up my permisions which are no modi then. Its just the script that is no modi for me.. so that what you see are your permisions. To see perms for the customers you have to look into the prefereces of the item.
uff
PS... when i ban bots from my camp.. they usually stay for some hours on the parcel near mine.

ya there are no scripts in the box, only clothes Well at least I know that there isn't something wrong with my stuff which was my concern, and I'm glad I didn't swing the banhammer too quickly

I type in SLurls when I find a shop sometimes from google instead of clicking the link. I've noticed that when I go to swanky stores w/ my GF that sometimes I will see the same avs sitting there if I come back an hour later to show a friend...I think the people who shop w/ blog links have a tendency to paste SLurls & stand in a store for years the most, lol. I always wondered what was up w/ those people too until I started using Takeshi's fashion blog...the SL fashion blog crowd has some funny habits.

If you think they will convincingly lie, independently pursue the details of the shopping group and see if they are making it up, if that's what they say it is. There are lots of shopping groups and stuff, so your guess might be right.

I started using the Kirsten viewer, but still use the LL one and Cool View at times, so I did not want to change the way slurls were handled yet - and they currently open the regular SL viewers. So I will grab slurls and paste them into chat to TP.
As to color - the blue would only be if you have not changed your default color for URLs (via the Text Chat tab in Prefs) -- I have changed all of my colors.

I found http://fabfree.wordpress.com recently and started going to some of the places listed there. I am using the Cool Viewer presently, which doesn't handle SLurls like the regular LL viewer does, so copying SLurls and pasting them into chat seemed like the best way to go to the places listed in the blog. It would be nice to have a field on the map to put SLurls, a field with enough smarts to handle "Ahern", "Ahern 12 13", "Ahern (14,19)", and other such ways to express a location in SL in addition to properly formatted SL links. ' I frequently stop somewhere in SL and then spend hours in the forums without looking at the SL display on the other monitor. I'm told that Cool Viewers failure to handle SLurls in the conventional way is a result of it being Restrained Life compatible. I wish it could be made to handle SLurls in the same way the LL viewer does. I should think it could be made optional.

Those slurls could also be people using viewers that don't handle them properly. I have to do the copy-paste into chat to get Kirsten's viewer to take them.

Avatars standing around

Sometimes the grid just disconnects and leaves the Avatar on line. That happened to me a few months back and Karen was just standing around for several days before I logged on again and found her standing there. I actually had to log off then back on again to make her move! SL has a lot of bugs and they come and go all the time.

I often leave my av logged in while I'm doing other things online, or even just not at the computer. I don't know why I don't get logged off, it used to log me off after 30 minutes and I don't remember changing any settings about that. In any case. Sometimes I accidentally leave my av logged-on in a public place, especially if I'm called away unexpectedly.
