Since Desmond's thread about the LindeX, I've been selling L$ by Limit Sell and getting more US$ that way (thank you Desmond), and I've been seeing the rising and falling of amounts of L$ for sale at the various prices. Right now, for instance, there are none for sale at 263, 24 million at 262 and 28 million at 261.
I remember someone saying that, if they don't mind waiting a while, they set to sell at the 2nd bulk amount, which would now be 261. But while I've been watching, there has always been millions for sale at 262. So my novice question is:-
Am I right in thinking that, as long as there are sufficient L$ for sale at 262, none of the L$ set for sale at 261 will be sold, and that those for sale at 261 will only ever be sold when there are none, or insufficient, for sale at 262?
The other day, I noticed the 262s shrink to about 5 million, and the 261s then went up a lot, presumably because some people extpected the 262s to run out - or is my thinking wrong.

Hi Phil,
Your thinking is right. The lindens at 261 will only be sold when there is nothing for sale at 262 or higher.

You are correct. However, check the Market Data page at http://secondlife.com/currency/market.php. In particular, read the Min Rate and Max Rate columns. You'll notice that the Max Rate had held steady at 273 until 5 Dec. The Min Rate hit 261 on 29 Nov, went back up to 262, and back down to 261 on 5 Dec. The first dip to 261 could have been taken as an early indicator (but not a guarantee) that the L$ was about to rise in value another 1L$/USD. So yes, some people have actually sold L$ recently at 261L$/USD. And, as I've said previously, I rely on these two columns rather than the heuristic you mentioned.
