I have a nice sized portion of mainland beachfront on a sim facing protected water. I share some of my land with a few very good friends, who have small (roughly 1k) plots carved out and set to a group. My partner has a store there.

I enjoy hopping into a plane and flying out over the lake and exploring the coastline. That's why I bought the land. Oh--and the incredible sunsets. I'd like to give other residents the opportunity to rez the occasional vehicle and do the same. On the other hand, I don't want to have to wander all over the sim into each individual parcel looking for other peoples prim litter, and, if possible, limit the actions of the occasional griefer.

SO, I'm thinking, on my land, it should work out well if I set a 5 or 10 minute return. But I'm a little confused about how to handle my friends plots, (land is set to group, not deeded.) Is there a way to set things so that group members can leave things permanently, but others only get a 5 minute window?

group members stuff won't be auto-returned if the parcel is deeded to group.
your renters/friends will need to be wearing their group tags when they place the objects on the land though
failing to have the correct group tag when rezzing the objects on will result in the objects being auto-returned.

Hmm, there's nothing really helpful there, but thanks for pasting.

I have a number of similar parcels - bordering on Linden oceans.
The land is set to build for all, with an Autoreturn of 5. (Edit: fingers originaly went rogue and typed a '0')

People come and rezz boats and flying things to head out over the oceans. I've seen people rezz boxes to open them. I have seen them leave boxes behind, but the autoreturn takes care of that.

The land is deeded to group.
Group members can build for permanancy as long as they remember to wear the group tag.

I can't remember right now if group members could build permance when the land was Set to Group rather than deeded. I *think* they could.
Best thing to do = Try it :)

I've had parcels set up that way for over a year, and I'm not aware of any abuse of what I give to SL in general.

Played around a bit and determined the only way to do it was to deed the land, allow anyone to rez, and set a return time.

If you didn't already know, you get a 10% tier bonus on deeded land. If that "nice sized" parcel you deeded was 4096m2, you just got an extra 409m2 of land in your available tier.

Duh!
My mind typed 5.
My fingers typed 0. I corrected it in the post now. tks :)

5 minutes is plenty time for someone to rezz a vehicle and move it out into the Linden sim.
