And if you are on a home network and connect through a router try rebooting your router..........might as well reboot the modem too while your at it
Unplug the router/modem from the electrical source for about 3 minutes then plug back in. Once all the lights settle to what they normally are try logging back in.

From: Juralp Grun the game is contastanlty freezing usddenly. My usddenly has been running fine. I've had no problems playing with Horus or any other Egyptian gods. Seriously though, clear cache, scan for malware, reboot, relog, repeat.

I have a new PC with plenty of memory and disc space, but was getting the slows, even though my Internet connection seemed fine. Booting the modem and router sped things up. Should have a sticky thread for PC problems...

It's all in the render.... My setup- Custom built (for this test)3ghz quad 8g RAM twin 500G 7.5kRPM drives 1G PCI ethernet card. with full framing set to match internet connection. 8800 512M video card and a fresh Windows XP install fully patched. Internet connection 14 down and 6 up Comcast (Houston Texas) Business class *Speed is average of 3 test using speedtest via LA site* TEST #1 Installed current SL client (Current DISTRIBUTION version) on new machine and ran in windowed mode logging in to low traffic residential area with stable fixed content 20 seconds to load content in 96m radius setting stayed at location for a total of 3 hours building experienced freezing when spinning view occasionally freezing never lasted more than a max of 10 seconds. disconnected once while spinning - sent crash report. TEST#2 running in windowed mode logging into a sandbox sim 35 seconds to fully load content in 96m radius setting stayed at location for a total of 2 hours building experienced freezing when spinning view about once ever 2 -8 minutes. Freezing at one point lasted 37 seconds. disconnected a total of 6 times - sent crash report. NOTE: every time I crashed it was when changing view and reloading OLD content I noticed in the monitor windows that when spinning sometimes it was requesting to download and then downloading textures/content that had already been downloaded(culling gone wild?) I also repeated this test on an older 2.6 duo 2 with 2g ram and a tiny hard drive that hasnt been defragged in a long time and a gt 7600 video card with simular results. So if we log in and stay in one place then we are pretty safe but if we travel we are going to take a chance of freezing and perhaps even crashing. TEST#3 Installed Current RC client with same parameters as above. **CONSTANT CRASHES** every 5-10 minutes However, camera spin/rotate induced lag has now been reduced....Good job!

SL has been freezing for over a year now. It tends to happen in busy areas like the mainland.
An LL coder might fix it when they can be bothered.

From: Memorial Dae It's all in the render....NOTE: every time I crashed it was when changing view and reloading OLD content... This is very interesting to me because it sounds very like my experience--but *only* with the 1.20 Release Candidate series. Is that what these results are from? At first I thought it was the much decried "memory leak" so I watched real and virtual memory footprints very carefully, and nothing scary was happening there. When this happens to me on Linux, sometimes all of X freezes--even the mouse cursor is stuck--and then some seconds later, it "thaws". Possibly superstitiously, I move my cam focus so I can't see any animated textures or llTargetOmega'd prims and have made myself believe that this forestalls the next freeze--but that may be wishful thinking.

No the last test was with a clean install machine patched OS and the distribution version of the client for windows environments Although I can NOw note that after downloading the Newest release client on that same box it is CONSTANTLY crashing in the order of once every 5-10 minutes.......although the SPIN lag has been reduced....how Ironic! ROFL

ROFL Thanks. Oh well. The problems with the RC possibly could be graphics preferences in the Hardware Options not playing nicely with driver settings in a control panel. (For example, the new anti-aliasing stuff will crash me to the bare metal, but everybody else seems to be happily smearing their jaggies.) Also, one thing that's *remarkably* improved in the newest RC is viewing parcel boundaries: prior to this release, that's not only been ugly but slowed my frame rates when on, ever since 1.18.mumble; dunno if that might be related to the "SPIN lag" improvement.
